Hi,

I'm new in this forum, I'm from Indonesia. I've Volvo S60 2.0T 2005. My friend garage offer me an R engine with no ECU with good price. Actually I don't have a problem with my stock engine. Need advice from you guys, is it worth to swap my stock engine with this R engine?. If it is not worth to swap the engine, I just think that maybe I could use the internal engine of R to put into my 2.0T engine.

any advice will be appreciated

Internals will not swap at all, R bore is 83mm, 2.0T is 81mm. Stroke is also a huge difference, R is 93.2mm and 2.0T is 77mm.
I'm not real familiar with the 2.0T as it is not in the US market.
The R B5254T4 Engine is a Dual CVVT engine. If your 2.0T has Dual CVVT's and you can find someone to write a proper Tune for it, it could probably work out. I put a R engine in my XC90 but in reality the 2.5T that came out of it is nearly identical in terms of dimensions, sensors and even the wiring harness are very similar. Both were Dual CVVT.

Hi Ocean60R,

Thanks for your input, I believe that internals of R won't fit at all to 2.0T block, but what if I swap it with the whole unit of the engine and pairing with 2.0T ECU? My 2.0T has dual CVVT's. I also believe that a R engine have more sensors to be connected and will leave it unconnected, with assuming ECU/ECM on my 2.0T will connect to the sensors available on R to be connected. Will it work?

I think you have a good chance of everything working. Most likely all the sensors are the same. You'll need to change the airbox/intake pipe out and use the R Mass Airflow sensor as the turbo inlet on the R is a much larger size. I think you should be ok. Check with a Tuner if they will be able to write a tune for it. My XC90 swap to R required a Stage 3 Tune due to more adjustment such as larger turbo, larger injectors, larger mass airflow.
