Hello guys

Would like to check with you guys about this error message "transmission performance low"
I have just repair & overhaul my gearbox due to jerking & transmission slip 2 weeks ago.
The gear shift is much better however i keep receiving the error code "transmission performance low".
Particularly if i shift my gear to R then D the error code appears. Gear stuck at #2 and cant even reverse even if i change to R.

Does anyone experience this before?

I drive S40 2009 2.0 L

Thanks in advance

Did Volvo service your transmission or just a local shop?
I assume they would have replaced the fluid, which requires that the ECU be reset for fresh fluid using Vida. Volvo should know to do this, but most shops don't.
Volvo gets away with calling it "lifetime transmission fluid" because the ECU adapts to the aging fluid. It needs to be reset for fresh fluid, otherwise it will think something is wrong.

Not sure if this is your problem, I've never seen that message before. But it could be a contributing factor.

I serviced it at local workshop
I was frustrated with it and sent it to volvo for checking.

They found out that 2 hoses that connect from gearbox to radiator and something else (not very sure which part) have been modified and was not connected properly.
transmission oil is leaking from these hoses. They needed 2 weeks to order these 2 hoses, rectify the connection and then run diagnostic test again. temporarily they topped up ATF to last for 2 weeks.

I'm worried that it might damage the TCM or ECM :(

An electronic module isn't going to become damaged just because it detects an error. Once the problem is fixed and the codes are cleared, you'll be good to go. Only thing at risk for damage is what the modules are reading, which would be the transmission, especially if it was low on fluid. Hopefully they caught it soon enough and the shop responsible will pay for Volvo's invoice.
