Rifle drilled connecting rods

Im getting some parts together for my R. Just got some forged pistons (diamond racing custom order from a dismantled car) and now looking for rods. Ive read somewhere that having the rods rifle drilled will help with cooling. Im not planning on pushing the engine to the limit, its a daily driver, but it does need to be bullet proof (lof of daily miles). I know some of the big brands offer it as an option, and some local shops can do it but is it worth the extra costs? Got a €250 quote for the work.

What you read is bull****, rods need their strength, keeping cool is not their issue. Drilling holes in things weakens them which is nothing you need to do.

Perhaps you read about shot peening and didn't understand what it meant? Its a process where tiny metal beads are shot at metal parts to debur them and strengthen the surface of the rod

The pistons need to keep cool, and that's what the pistons squirters are for.

The stock rods are pretty good, but if you want to go really crazy nice billet rods aren't that expensive up an upgrade.

Nope im sure it a thing, seen it on multiple forums, usually in the VW/AUDI crowd. Some references:

In this photo you can see our in-house EDM machine at work, used to rifle drill Integrated Engineering connecting rods.

Rifle drilling forces oil to the wrist pin, this reduces friction on the pin and pin bushing, thus reducing wear. A highly recommended option for street cars that are driven frequently. Available option for all H beam rods, and standard on Tuscan I beam rods.

Ehhhh because:

-This a forum and people can have different opinions worth discussing?
-Some people dont seem aware of the option and now they are. Im all about sharing son! ;)
-If someone has already used this on a high power build they might have some info from their engine builder as to whether it is worth the cost?

Got the pistons, head studs and the sleeves, still need to find a shop that can guarantee the install.. Looking for rods right now (tempted to try the chinese no name stuff for 300 bucks, as an experiment, got a T5 as a daily so a little downtime is no issue). Head is already rebuild so no valve springs for me, although i might change my mind when it blows up ;)

Im trying to max out a hybrid K24, so 400 would be nice. But i travel around 800 miles a week with some higher speeds (100/110mph) so i need the engine to be bullet proof.
