I was going to put on a few thousands km's before I posted because I was mostly interested in finding a good oil that doesn't burn. but I had some interesting results already with liqui moly. with mobile 1 I had minimal oil loss. about half a liter every 2500 kms and with the cheapo (cheap being $40 for 5L compared to $55 for 5L of mobil 1)Canadian tire formula 1 full synthetic it was quite a bit more than that. I think I added almost 2L in 5000km! so I knew I had to just not be cheap and spend some good money on some good oil. lots of people suggested mobil 1 but I have seen a couple of recommendations for liqui moly and I found some at an independent car parts store for $39 for 5L and $10 for 1L bottles! awesome deal and supposed to be good stuff so I gave it a shot. so first impressions after only 100km of driving. immediately after starting it the valvetrain noise was reduced. noticeably quieter and smoother sounding at idle. so I was happy about that and then I noticed something else kind cool. ive had the "stumble and recover" issue when coming to a stop at stop signs occasionally. when the clutch is depressed, as the engine comes down to idle it will stumble and recover immediately. usually once every other drive or so. well since putting liqui moly in the engine I still have the stumble sometimes but it recovers WAY faster. honestly the first time I thought it was coincidence and that time it just didn't hesitate so bad. but its happened a few times since the oil change and every time the engine has recovered much much faster. so  for liqui moly so far and once I get a few thousand kms on her I will check the dipstick and report on the amount of loss.

Interesting....I just did an oil change last month on my 2006 BMW 325i and 2006 VW Passat 3.6L and used the Liqui Moly 5w40 in both. There is a well known VW shop locally that swear by it so I tried it and both cars seem to be doing well on it. I noticed that they had it in 5w30 and 10w30 which is what the 04R recommends. Maybe I'll give it a try on my next oil change. With 150K I'd be interested to see how much oil your R uses with Liqui Moly. I've been using AMSOIL or Pennzoil lately and both seem to do well. Surprisingly the Pennzoil which is in the R now has not needed toping off in 3200 miles (I change my oil every 7500 miles).

My last change was with Liquimoli Synthoil Premium 5w40. I burned about 3/4 of a quart after about 3000 miles. 1/4 of a quart per 1000 miles... Not bad. It has been working fine. I am coming up on 5K miles and due for an oil change. Will see what I burned through.

well im worried. the car is back on DD duties since I changed jobs and no longer have a work truck. So ive gone about 300-400kms since the oil change and I had the low oil warning come up. checked the dipstick and yup im down about 1L. not good. so I don't know whats going on and im starting to think it might be bad. but of course since she is my DD now I cant have any down time. so I guess I have to just keep topping her up and hoping nothing blows up...

So what is your opinion of the oil?? Liqui moly yes or no?

I've never really bought into this Liquimoli craze the Audi and VW crowd have started recently. Based on what I've read, Liquimoli's stuff isn't really all that different from the likes of the other top-tier oils, yet for some reason people keep saying that it fixed all their car's problems and cured their blind cat.

This thread is a decade old - you’re unlikely to get a response from the OP. However, others on this forum have determined that for whatever reason LM burns at a faster rate than other oils. You’ll be best off with Castrol Full Synthetic Euro 5W-40 in these engines
