I had the IPD T6 Catback Exhaust installed on my 2015 V60RD a few weeks ago and I'm finally getting around to this proper write-up; I really wanted to give it some time to break in. I can say after a couple of weeks and letting the "New Mod Installed" feeling subside that I am very happy with my purchase. The exhaust note is exactly what it should have been from the factory. That was one of the complaints I always had about the S60/V60 R-Design models, that they were too quiet, even under WOT. I have always been pleased with the intake sound of the 3.0L T6, but the exhaust note was subdued in stock form. Some of the exhausts that I considered were the Ferrita and KPAX exhausts before I settled on the IPD. Ultimately, I could rule out the KPAX exhaust from the start because of the lofty price tag and not getting that past the wife in the billing statements...damn daycare costs, lol! It was really between the Ferrita and the IPD at that point and I gave IPD a chance since I've always had great luck with their products and my friends/family have used their aftermarket exhausts. I know another member had a Ferrita exhaust recently installed on his V60RD and had some fitment issues with the tips being to short and also delivery of the product has been botched up for several other members.

*Update* I totally thought that I had included what I thought about the performance improvement from adding the exhaust. I'm happy to say that it definitely added a bit of improvement feel to go with the sound improvement. Nothing earth shattering like say a downpipe with a tune would have on this vehicle, but a bit more pep added in its step.

The IPD exhaust sure does shave some pounds off the OEM exhaust which is just a beast in the muffler section:

The install was very straight forward and took less than an hour to complete. For my install I had a local shop with a lift do the work since I didn't really have the time to be crawling under my car. The did make a clean cut in the rear axle area to easily remove the OEM exhaust and this way I can always have the OEM exhaust reinstalled if I ever sell the vehicle. Here are some of the pictures of the exhaust installed:

I was able to do some before and after videos of the Before/After Rev and Driving around Town:

I would like to thank the Team over at IPD, especially Chris and Ken for taking the time to answer all my questions and listen to my feedback about this particular exhaust and other future products. There really is no other team of Volvo Professionals that I trust more than the guys at IPD. I'm excited to add more additions down the road from them and possibly look at doing the downpipe in the Spring/Summer time.

Pros
~Throaty Sound
~Price/Value
~Construction Quality
~Looks

Cons
~@2-2500RPM on the highway you can get some drone at around 65MPH - Putting the shift Lever in Sport Mode seems to alleviate the noise as the RPM's then shoot up to 3000 mark. I believe since I have a wagon, more of the noise gets caught in the rear hatch area that is open to the rest of the cabin; I'd really like to take a drive with some members that have an S60 with an exhaust upgrade to compare.
~Swap out the V-Band Clamps for the Exhaust Tips for a more traditional exhaust clamp - I mentioned this to Chris @ IPD and they are working on changing this clamp. Here is the SS Exhaust Clamp I used:

Verdict
If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the KPAX exhaust, but still want to get the same quality product, than look no further the IPD Catback exhaust is truly a great addition/modification to your 3.0L T6 engine.

If anyone has any questions or wants to visually see the IPD Exhaust in person feel free to message me and post below!

Enjoy!:D

That sounds and looks awesome. I am definitely interested in the IPD exhaust and downpipe. I'm really just waiting on funds to make themselves available. There's always way too much stuff to add on or modify. Seeing Connor's latest numbers with Hilton tuning means that's in the future too. But first comes the exhaust and downpipe.

The IPD catback looks nice and sounds great!

My jetex exhaust also gets some exhaust drone between 2000rpm and 2500rpm on my V60.

I have already put a fiberglass insulation blanket under the floor in the trunk but it doesn't really do anything to quiet down the drone. :(

No wonder the stock muffler is big and heavy. Not sure if a spare tire would help :p

I wonder if using a sound deadening material such as Dynomat would work better?

Thanks! They are 4" tips, they are the perfect size .

Thanks Pete! Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to Carlisle this year and I can check out your wagon! :D

It looks amazing!

I have the Ferrita DP + full exhaust.
Don't know how it compares to IPD in terms of price, etc...
Definitely great improvement in the sound department.
Did not notice any droning.

Happy Holidays to all!

Marco.

Thanks! The two are fairly comparable in price with IPD having the slight advantage in pricing. How was your exhaust tip alignment once everything was installed? Another member on here had it installed on his V60RD and the tips seemed too short and he had to replace them with other ones. The droning noise that myself and other owners of the KPAX/Jetex systems is mild, nothing that is making your ear drums bleed but you can notice it with the radio off cruising at highway speeds in the 2000-2500rpm range above 65mph.

Thanks! The Viva exhaust was on the short list from the other Exhaust Thread we had going on, but there were too few people that actually had it installed. I had actually seen the Ferrita and KPAX in person and I was sold on one of them; no knock to the VIVA branded exhaust, I'm sure it is very nice and customers are happy. I gave the IPD exhaust a shot just because I have a long history with the team over there and family/friends having installed their exhaust's with great success. Hit me up on FB messenger if you want to meet up and check it out in person one weekend.

Looks like a great setup! The tips are the perfect size. I like the clamp you used for the tips!

From the video clips, it sounds almost stock. This one reminds me of the HEICO setup I heard at Carlisle. It had a slightly deeper tone but could pass for an OEM system.

I wonder if they are working on a system for the new XC90? I need to catch up with Chris. :)

Thanks Chris! I think IPD will be using those clamps for the exhaust from here on out; I actually just received a box from them containing a new set of these clamps for the exhaust tips. The exhaust is definitely louder than the Heico one I heard a few years back on my buddy's S60 T6. I think it's coming across as well on the videos that I'm shooting, but under normal driving conditions it's pretty subtle. Hopefully I will be able to make it out to Carlisle this year and you'll be able to hear it in person.

I don't think Chris mentioned anything for the SPA chassis cars yet when I spoke with him. Everything was about P3 chassis cars and a lot of items coming down the road for us S60/V60 guys.

Sounds pretty good - any chance you can get a video of what you describe as interior drone at highway speeds? I'm looking for an exhaust replacement to the stock one and this is looking promising as long as it doesn't make me nuts at highway speeds.

Next time I take a highway run, may be a bit since I don't have any errands/trips at the moment that will give me some good highway time. I will try my best.

I recently got this cat back on my 2015 s60 t6 RD, and I as well am very pleased with the difference! Some things to add though, it seems like they did change the clamps, as the ones that came with mine were very similar to the conventional clamps. About the droning, I do notice it around the same rev range, but it is very minor on the s60, and does not bug me at all.

Hope this helps!
