Both ports can charge and send data to SENSUS, but no luck with Android Auto!

AA needs to be unlocked by Volvo. My dealer won't do it. They said that AA is not support on MY2016.

Nope, it's plug and play.

When using my iPod Nano to play music through the USB port, I find that that Sensus fails to recognize a USB device every other time I start the car. In between, I need to physically remove the Nano from the USB port and then reinsert it. After making this hardware switch, do you have any issues with Sensus recognizing your USB devices?

 

I appreciate the information, but if it doesn't get me AA, then I have no interest.

 

Chinese solution for 2$ works perfect, all 3 ports.

What will you use it for?

 

The part number for Android Auto for cars with one USB is 31659192-1 .
The dealer can upload it, if he really wants to.

 

If this is not approved by Volvo, dealer wouldn't want to do it, I think, at least not before warranty expires. If some tech people got an one-USB car and want AA on it, maybe he will try it. Worst case just revert it back.

(it's in the Volvo instruction for the 2 usb upgrade)

Is it required when when upgrading from 1 to 2 usb ?
According to this thread the 2 usb module seems to work fine without it.
May be it is only required when upgrading a car without usb?

 

I tend to believe it is for some other market region where only 1 usb was offered in late 2017 and 2018 models, which is quite hard to believe...

Now, both Carplay and Android Auto should work.

 

Any idea what about those, who bought it long time ago, and received only CarPlay ?? Can we get AA for free?

 

Two threads going on this topic. VCNA and my dealer have both confirmed the accessory mentioned above is for model year 2016 to support two USB and have Android Auto installed. No word on pricing yet as dealer is waiting for word from Volvo Corp. VCNA did send me a 30% discount up to $200 to apply towards this accessory. Waiting to see actual price prior to pushing them more as I have Carplay already and was also told Android Auto would be a free upgrade at some point.

Anyone done this upgrade lately? The link for the new part is dead.

 

Dealer did my 2016 XC90 a couple weeks ago. Cant remember if i paid for carplay or not, but the upgrade to two usb ports was free to include software that resolved the faulty operation of it.

I just asked this from my dealer last weekend and was quoted about $740 for the parts and labor... (this is in PNW)

I have no idea what "CCF Driven" means, but I am pretty sure you need an active VIDA Setup with valid subscription that includes the software installation capability.

O have your dealer install the software.

 

I've already got CarPlay and for some time I've been trying to understand the need for 2X USB for Android Auto. I've got a MY16 XC90 with single port. Right now as a Pixel user I've got an old iPhone plugged in and use this for Maps, Spotify etc.

Question: Has anybody enable Android Auto via VDash with a single port only? I'm aware I need my CEM PIN for this operation. I did email / raise a ticket with D5T5 some time ago without response...

In other news; there is a deal here in the UK currently to get both ports installed and CarPlay / Android Auto installed for £180 direct from Volvo instead of the usual £300. But I prefer the £30 VDash option if it'll work - im also looking to enable a Subwoofer.

 

I have a 2017 XC90 with a single USB port. Am I entitled to have this done for free? I saw the VIN range info, but it's greek to me and I have no idea how to read/interpret it.
