Replace Seatbelt

I need to replace the driver front seatbelt in my 2009 XC90...I removed one from a junked same-year model (the engine blew, not in an accident) with no real problems, but I will obviously need to take a little more care removing the trim in my car.

The access to both the buckle end and the "female" end is very tight, and the wire coming from the female end that is under the seat may be challenging to access. Has anyone done this before? I cannot seem to find a good video for this model/year.

any help/suggestions would be appreciated!

Move the seat all the way forward. Remove both rear seat rail plastic cover and remove both rear seat rail bolts. Move seat all the way back. Remove both front plastic rail covers and bolts. Tilt the seat back forward, this will help in the next step. Lift up and tilt the seat towards the back to access the buckle mounting bolt and connector. Turn off/remove the ignition key before removing the buckle connector or you will set an SRS code. Should not have to remove the seat from the car. You may have to disconnect the seat harness/connector to tilt the seat back.

THANK YOU!

Follow up question...the main install looks pretty straight forward, although tight access for sure. Before I started to remove all the trim pieces, I was checking out the seatbelt I removed from the junked car, and it wont budge (wont roll out), as if it is locked in tight. Does that mean it is simply not working? The car I pulled it from had blown engine, so there was almost no impact, and airbags were still intact, so that's why I felt these belts would be safe to use, but I cant understand why I cant unroll the belt, and I don't want to get too far into it only to find it doesn't work.

The two wires from the main end feed some sort of silver metal cylinder that I assume controls the locking mechanism, but I do not know how it works.

DO you have any suggestions?

You have to hold it in the correct orientation otherwise it thinks the car is not upright. Hopefully, that's the only issue.

Think the two wires are for the seatbelt pretensioner. They're a pyrotechnic device (silver cylinder that forces the pre-tightening by firing a pin down on the belt cogs. May not be related to your not getting the belt to unroll but if they fired, I'm sure the belt will have irrevocably locked and will be useless.

Key is your statement about "almost no impact" above. If you can clarify, it'll help to omit them as a possible. Impact or no impact or something in between?
