Replace Climate Control Module

I’ve ended up having my CCM unit short curcuit. And need to replace it. I’ve got a 2000 (2001) V70 XC. I can go to a junk yard and get one from another car (just a 2003 model instead of 2001) however does anyone know if they are swappable or do they require programming. All buttons are the same including the 2 aux buttons (mirror fold and child lock). I’ve heard numerous stories about some do and some don’t.
If it does what is the process involved - can it be done by anyone with Vida dice? I’m assuming the dealers won’t do it normally - they’ll want you to buy a new one.

Swaps without programming, just make sure the part numbers on them are the same (or possibly same year?) and disconnect your negative battery lead 30mins before swapping in, then ignition in position II before reconnecting battery!

Buttons don't matter as those swap over, you just need to make sure the CCM module is the same. I'd replace or check the backlight bulbs and clean the gummy knobs while you're in there!

What's the process in programming. Is it only a dealer or can anyone with Vida dice do it?
Anyone with a VIDA subscription and a factory DICE unit can "program" a new CCM - you can't "reprogram" a used CCM using VIDA. The stolen/hacked 2014d VIDA with a clone DICE unit that everyone uses can't be used for downloads or "programming". Companies such as xemodex can "program" a used CCM to work in your car.

To answer your first question - Buy a new CCM, buy a VIDA subscription, and using your Volvo approved DICE unit purchase and install the download for the CCM, so it will talk to the rest of your car.

It's plug and play without programming if you get the same year/model# of CCM. Or Xemodex if you can't be bothered to pick the correct year at a junkyard. Just sold a guy a used CCM from my junk pile for his '06 S60R and it plugged and played just fine, part number was the same as what he had (his was fried)

You got 2000 S60s? Most places they started model year at 01, s80's the only p2 that existed in 00. You're right about 01 v70 Xc70 or s60 being the same tho
