Removing ICM completely

Hi all,

Is it possible to totally remove the ICM module (replacing my radio), or is it going to break anything (like the alarm?)
Any time I try to remove the CD Charger in this model, I loose audio. I was thinking about placing the ICM and CD Charger under the passenger seat (I tried to keep the factory Amplifier), but I'm almost willing now to bypass the amp and remove the ICM and CD Charger. Just curious if it is doable, or if its going to screw up things?

I thought you had a P-1800? :)

Anyway, I researched the bejesus out of this subject two years ago when I installed my aftermarket radio. First, that cd player is the actual brains behind the whole audio setup. The display and knobs part is essentially a user interface device.
I could not find any information, then or since, on how to get the amplifier to do anything other than plug the hole under the seat. I keep looking and hoping, but so far; nothing.
That amp needs MOST communications to change volume, I think (?).
Ultimately, my result was like the one in the video; leave the central bit of the display connected and hide it, connect the speaker leads from the amp directly to the aftermarket unit. The net result is that things work quite well, sound is great, and there's a bunch of codes in VIDA about audio stuff not working, but no codes on the dash.
I have not found if all the bits can be removed or unplugged and had thought about a CANBUS terminator, but could find nothing about it. In the end, it just doesn't matter. Life goes on, but I wish I didn't have those codes :(
P.S.- Look at the ATOTO stuff. REAL happy with mine, although I needed the AXXess unit to make the steering wheel buttons work. The newer gear may have that sorted, though.
