Aaarrrggghhhh!!! For all things great and wonderful, will someone please post the bolt part number OR actual size?@? :)
I never got the part number but here is what I wrote above for the bolt I used.

As noted in a prior post, you also need a screw/bolt if you want to firmly attach the bases to the seats. That part number hasn't yet been posted here but I found a 7mm hex head bolt that did the trick. I believe it was a 7mm X 1mm thread that was about 1.5cm to 2cm long. You'll want two of these bolts.
The threaded hole is already on the seat frame so you don't need the plastic parts installed to check to see if your bolt fits the diameter and thread. As for length, you've got some room to play with which is why I gave the range.

My wife bought a 2017 XC90 because of this thread! She was looking for something with 3 rows, all around camera, and captains chairs in the second row. All of those things were required so without finding this thread we would have probably gotten a Highlander. Not bad, but so far the Volvo seems much nicer. Thank you all. This post, with the needed part #s for the trim and carpet pieces, is awesome! Now to get some parts ordered....

The MY2020 and newer's 6 seat option has a slightly different part for a floor-mounted cupholder as well as 6 seat specific floormat. But what is still missing is the inboard armrest for the 2 outer 2nd row seats.

@satrya , I just realized - you have armrests on those second row seats. Did I miss a post about how you did that? Are those Volvo parts or did you find them somewhere else?
I haven't seen any OE parts.

The arm rest is a minor mod using aftermarket arm rest advertised for 1st row add-on: Arm rest for 2nd row (w/o center seat)

It looks like these aftermarket arm rests are available in another color similar to the amber interior as well, although I don't know how close the color is to the OE amber upholstery. As for the black one here, the grain texture is slightly smaller than the OE upholstery for Momentum+.

I added cup holders: 2nd row cup holders

Wow! That's amazing work there. I'm glad I asked and thanks for the links to those posts. (I don't spend enough time here reading up on all that would be interesting so I wouldn't have seen these posts without your links here.)

With the middle seat removed, armrests would be nice and some sort of USB charging pocket too - like you've built in your armrest post but even cooler if powered from under the seat somehow. The cupholders in the doors work okay for my kids so that's not a thing I'd be needing and in fact, the access to the 3rd row is almost entirely done between the seats instead of tilting the side seats forward so I wouldn't want to restrict access to the 3rd row with the width of a cupholder. So if I did find any armrests, I'd want them to be really narrow.

But the thing that is most missing in my XC90 is a place to put a Kleenex box. Ideally, I was thinking it'd be cool if somebody could create a 3D print model to fit a Kleenex cube immediately behind the front center console so the front seat passengers could reach around to grab a tissue. It could sit on the floor and have sides that extend over the sides of the center console to mount it. It'd end up right in front of the lighter port on the back of the console so that would need to be turned into USB jacks on either side of the Kleenex holder. The placement behind the center console would mean no legroom for a middle 2nd row seat - but with the seat removed, it doesn't matter. :)

Thank you

Given that the seat belt and seat occupant wiring comes up from the floor, I'm sure it is possible to run a proper fused power line under the factory carpet covers. You may need to re-glue the carpets back on though, or devise a velcro replacement (so you can service the line if needed).

The arm rest I bought can be oriented inwards or outwards relative to the seats, because the telescoping post is mounted slightly offset from the arm rests. This picture below shows how the arm rest top is offset from the posts; attaching the arm rests the opposite way would practically consume no aisle access space at all. You could make that a default orientation unless the occupant wants to flip it afterwards. Flipping it is a matter of a few seconds.

Having said that, given that the aisle access needs to clear footwear and maybe up to calf level height, I don't think a lot of clearance is needed. Even with the additional cup holder I tried, there is still ample and easy access in and out of the 3rd row via the 2nd without moving the 2nd row outboard seats.

Also, the inboard arm rests need to be wide enough unless there is a lip on the outer edge to help keep the arm from falling out. On the OE door sides, the door's wall serve that purpose.

Alternatively, the aft plastic panel of the 1st row center console (pictured below with a USB adapter occupying the 12V DC socket) has some space behind it. Perhaps it can be modified to house a half height box and a slot on the panel for the dispense.

I saw this ebay picture of a center console from the bottom view. The metal frame and that aft plastic panel has a bit of a gap.

A standard box fits between the 3rd row seats:

You lose the "storage space" that the box sits atop of, but that's not too bad imho.

Does anyone make this connector and sell it so I don't have to go find all of the parts?
With MY2020 onwards in the US having a 6 seat option, my guess is the wiring harness for the 2nd row seats for occupant and seatbelt detector may be identical. If so, that could mean an OE dummy connector may exist.

And the bolt part number is...?
Not op but I think its the one listed below. Ordered all parts yesterday from Tasca & amazon minus the mat since shipping for it alone was $300, will order from local dealership. I created a quick spreadsheet of part #'s thanks to all that posted in this thread:

*resistor says 1pc because its a pack of like 100

I did the 6 passenger modification to my wife's 2017 T6 yesterday. Well, most of it. The plastic covers should show up tomorrow but I have the center seat out, the resistors in place, and floor mat in and it really opens things up! I went with the weathertech mat for the 2020 6 passenger and it looks great! It is one piece that covers the second and 3rd rows and was about the same cost as the factory carpet mat that only covers the 3rd row and between the second row seats. The Weathertech mat is not quite flat between the second row seats but I think that will get better once the car sits in the sun for an afternoon on a warm day. Otherwise fitment is perfect. For now I just wrapped the reisistors with electrical tape but I had my 18 year old son get some measurements and asked that he sketch up a clip for it that he can print on his 3D printers so I hope to have that soon, too. I kinda want to make an excuse to go on a road trip, now!

Thanks @theclutch for the resistors! I really didn't want to have 198 extra one's laying around because with my hoarding tendencies I know I'd never throw them away!

Wanted to share my successful 6-seat conversion. All in all took me about 2 hours or less, I'd rate this a 3/10 for difficulty. Everything is identical to OEM except I didn't buy the floor mounted cup holder. Above I posted the full part list used. I wasn't sure if the all weather mat would properly cover the exposed holes so I went with the summer carpet part #32288264. I'd recommend ordering 2x of the plastic mounts (IDK the part #) for the green connector, most difficult part and ended up snapping one.

I used Tasca and Amazon, Tasca had everything FedEx overnighted to my door within 3 days of placing the order (for both orders) even though I paid for standard ground. Volvopartscounter.com was used for 1 part, can't recommend due to the straight-up rude attitude of their CS.

Please excuse the dog hair. Thanks to all that posted before me for the info.

Hi All,
What a great thread. Has anyone successfully done this successfully to a 2020 or 2021 model?
I'm not sure if there are any changes into 2020 or 2021 that makes this 7-to-6-seat conversion impossible. If anything, converting from the 6 seat version of 2020 and beyond to 7 might be harder, because the floorboard may not have the mounting holes nor the wiring.

Thanks for the quick response satrya.
For the install, does the car battery need to be removed? I'd like to avoid a code as much as possible.
didn't unplug ours and got no code, just made sure to leave my doors open for about 15 mins before starting. Only variation I've seen to this thread is one owner of a 2017 T8 had a different plug with more wires than the rest here, IDK if he's figured it out.

I believe as long as the engine is off (ignition key not twisted to on) while the middle seat (of the 2nd row) is removed and replacement resistors are in place, the system won't know the difference.
