I am a fairly new owner of a 2019 S90 T8 that I purchased used with 26.5k miles on the ODO which was delivered to me from VA with a weird hum in the cabin when the rear AC is on at a fan speed of 2 or 3. You also feel a vibration on the floorboard of the front passenger side of the vehicle. The most convenient dealership to me is Grubs Volvo in Grapevine but I have been there 3 times already for the same issue and they just keep giving me the car back with the same issue.

Being the newest dealership in the metroplex (celebrated their grand opening this past Thursday) I fear the techs may just be too new to these cars and not know what to do.

Does anyone have a recommendation (Dallas vs Frisco) on where else I can take my car to get this resolved? I might give Grubs one last chance but they will NOT give me a V40 loaner or I will walk away and never go back. Anyone have a good experience with either other location and/or a recommendation on where to go next?

Grubbs Volvo is an abomination. If you enjoy misery take your car there. I had no choice with my Polestar but to service it there and their service model is based on “Soup Nazi” from Seinfeld. I would not recommend Grubbs to my worst enemy. I have had great experience with Crest Volvo on our last few Volvos. I have gotten help before from Park Place Volvo and they are ok.

Well I do have an appointment again with them tomorrow morning. I will give them 1 last chance. I found out even the very first thing they worked on was not done 100% and needs a revisit. I actually hope they have a v40 waiting for me so I can just simply drive off and book an appointment with Crest. Wish me luck.

They have a tendency to screw everything up so you will need all of the luck in the world.

@digdah what happened? The suspense is killing me. If you are still stuck hostage at Grubbs from yesterday, blink twice to get rescued!

It is a laundry list of things they are looking into. The car is still there so I won't know the outcome till they call me to go pick it up. To help satisfy your curiosity these are the issues I have with the car since picking it up as my first Volvo early March this year.

Rear air suspension sitting about 1.5 inches too high. They kinda fixed that but the passenger side was not level with the drivers side and needs to be lowered a half inch for everything to line up. FWIW all sides sit almost dead on 28" from the ground the the fender.

My shifter light is visually almost non-existent. After some time I noticed that when you first turn on the vehicle it lights up very bright for like 5 seconds then dims to where you won't notice it lights up unless it is completely dark outside. So I think the LED is on it's last leg and the unit just needs to be replaced.

The rear AC comes on with a very loud oscillating hum which in an electric vehicle is very noticeable particularly when you start the car up with no radio. You can feel the vibration matching the oscillating sound on the passenger's side floorboard which is quite annoying. Wifey might enjoy the vibration but for me both noise and vibration are a major irritation. What is funny is if you but it manually on full blast it goes dead silent (as I would expect at all speeds) and is vibration free. I think the blower motor/unit needs to be replaced. This is the 4x time I have brought it back specifically for this issue. It will be the last if not resolved.

I also discovered the driver's side bolsters do not maintain inflation. This is the only item on this 4th visit that is not a repeat issue.

Basically they haven't fixed a single thing I noticed wrong. I want to get them all fixed prior to the warranty running out so I can start personalizing my car. They even argued that the shifter does not light up. I mean do they not work on Volvos at Grubbs?

Wish me luck!

It has been 2 weeks and the car is still there and I am losing faith in this being resolved at this establishment based on my last convo with them.

As for the noise/vibration associated with the rear HVAC they cannot figure it out and now, after 2 friggin weeks, are getting Volvo HQ involved.

I believe they just ordered a replacement for my shifter. I don't understand why they didn't order it last week.

They think the bolster issue is software related . I am not an Engineer (actually I am) but they inflate successfully on command then slowly deflate with the right side going down faster than the left hand side. I guess software will stop this lol. Funny because on my first 2 visits I requested they update all the software to the latest version and both times the confirmed they did. We will have a good discussion about this face-to-face.

At this point I think will probably end up taking my car somewhere else more competent.

Again, wish me luck!

Update: I just got my car back today. Yes you read that right - today. I think the main issue is fixed with the HVAC but I want to give it 3 days before I actually call it good. There was a little bit of damage made to the leather on the middle headrest as well as the top of the rear foldable armrest but I am too worn out to ask for it to be replaced. I did point it out to my advisor and it is noted. I will deal with it later.

This has been a very bad introduction for me into Volvo ownership. I had to tell them again to fix the bolsters which they finally did but I am almost positive the rear air suspension is still off. I am just not interested in checking cause I will lose my mind if it is still off. I was supposed to get the car 3 days ago but they found the supercharger were leaking oil and had to replace it.

On another note I JUST got my tags for the car about 4 days ago. I mean, I purchased the car 1st of March this year but this is another saga I would need a scribe to type out for me. I had to escalate the tag issue to the VA DMV to get Beyer Volvo of Falls Church VA, who I purchased the car from, to get up off their ass and push my paperwork through.

I still have a letter out to Volvo to lemon out the vehicle since it took so long to get it back to me. If the issue resurfaces I will be lawyering up and getting out of this vehicle without question.

Good thing is the car drives good and I don't' think there are any new issues introduced with this work and the car still smells new, yum. I did gain some faith in the dealership over time and they honestly did all they could to fix the issue and were totally honest with me throughout the process but some things Volvo did left a very sour taste in my mouth like taking 3 weeks to ship the final replacement part.

Again, the entire ordeal over the last 3ish months is too much to type out. I seriously hope this issue is fully resolved and I don't have too many other issues with this car cause I really want to have something reliable in my stable. Wish me luck!

I've had a really great experience since 2019 at Park Place Volvo with Aldo as my service advisor for my 2016 V60 (just sold). I still plan on using him for my new-to-me 2019 V60. Just a heads up, I usually make an appointment online, then immediately call the service department receptionist to add a loaner vehicle (the online option disappeared a couple years ago).
