Rear bumper repair - disassembly required?

The driver of one of today's absurdly-raised 1/2-ton pickups could not see adjacent obstacles (like Volvo station wagons) and his right front bumper pressed into the left rear corner of my rear bumper, breaking the underlying bracket.

My friend owns a high-end body shop, and his estimate indicates the only part to replace is the broken left side bracket that holds the cover to the bumper (p/n 30727018, No. 14 in flipped parts diagram, below). Unfortunately, he cannot work for a while, so I'm going to buy the bracket and attempt this myself. There's no paintwork needed, only buffing.

I found a few videos on the P2 rear bumper, but they only show dropping the entire bumper and cover. Is there a method to only peel back and reattach the cover from the left corner to install the bracket, without dropping the whole bumper? Or is it easier having the bumper completely off to install the bracket and cover? Advice appreciated.

I've replaced those and yes they do need to come off. There is a torx drive (T25) bolt head that as you loosen it will stop pulling the bumper forward, when its backed off far enough the bumper unhooks. Unhook both sides

Remove the storage tray above the battery, 4 bolts 15 mm I think holding the bumper on inside the box section. Put a little tap on the inside of your socket so that it "holds" the really long nuts, trust me you don't want to drop on, add tap until you can just get the socket squarely on.

Thank you all. Those .pdf files are great. I confess I hardly know what is in my VIDA's database.

The antenna in my '07 V70 is in the left window over the cargo area. How is the rear bumper related to the antenna?

The cover is flexible enough that I didn't have to drop the bumper to remove/install the left bracket.
