For about a week now my RTTI has been out again. This is getting totally ridiculous. Granted I have the last of the sensus systems but give me a break. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

2021 V90CC Sensus. My RTT has also been down (again) for about the last week. However, on my wife's 2021 XC60 Sensus, she is receiving RTT. Our Sirius subscriptions are both active. If this is like the last time we lost RTT, I hope Volvo gets their act together and fixes it.

My RTTI on my 2018 XC90 has been out since March! I live in LA, and need the RTTI to drive around the freeways and alternative routes. I took my car to the Dealer, who told me that it is a Volvo issue. They have been useless on this issue......very evasive. They told me in May that it would be fixed by "late June". What in the world could take so long?????? I remain very disappointed in Volvo Customer Service.

I've moved to using carplay via the wireless adapter linked at the end of this post as my primary now. This new adapter does not have any of the echo issues I had with previous models, it also connects EXTREMELY quickly. It doesn't fix the fact that the carplay on it's own takes about 45s to boot on the car, but once that's booted I'm connected in < 5 seconds now. Sucks because I paid up for 2 years of volvo service when I got a discount a while back ...

I miss nav on the hud and center screen but it works reliably ...

Back in 2027-2019 when I had a 2018 XC90 T8 with Sensus the RT traffic going in and out was a constant issue even back then. Is couple times it was out for two months or so. Crazy how automakers struggle to support the technology they put in their cars even from day 1.

Mine has come back like that sporadically but never stuck around.

The good news is that Volvo finally has a fix for this- but it requires a trip to the dealership for a software patch. I have mine scheduled for August 18, so I can’t confirm that it works myself. But some folks on the UK based Volvo Owners Forum have had it installed and say they have RTTI back.

Interesting. Are you in the US? I contacted Volvo Cars US through the chat feature in the app and they told me there was a fix but that it needed to be installed at the dealer. The service department at my dealer didn’t know about it at first, but seemed to be able to find it in their system and scheduled me to bring it in.

There’s a workaround to get RTTI working, but the catch is that you need to do it every time you restart the car… it seems like the root cause for the outage is an expired SSL certificate in Sensus.

If you go to settings > system > time and date, then uncheck the box for having the time automatically set by the GPS. This will open up the ability to set the date and time manually. Set the year to 2024 (any date), turn the car off and lock it. Once you restart the car, reselect the option to have the date and time automatically set by GPS and you’ll have RTTI for that drive. It takes a minute for the RTTI to appear on the map (I had to toggle the RTTI off and on once under the navigation settings to get it to appear). I guess the system just verifies the certificate once when it connects.

It’s a pain, but it’s something. 🤷‍♂️
