We have an 06 s40 t5 and lately the throttle response has been pretty poor. I push the pedal down and there's almost a full second lag before it does anything.

How about cleaning the o2 sensor, the throttle body and maybe some seafoam? Sounds like your powers getting bogged down somewhere.

Oh yeah, the car has 36k, brand new fps, plugs, coils, entire head...

With only 36,000 miles why was all this done already? 3,600 miles a year doesn't sound right, was it wrecked?

We don't know. The assumption is that the water pump may have froze, or the serp belt may have taken out the timing belt. If it broke. It had a few bad intake valves, and was misfiring... I changed the plugs and coils and fps with no changes. Then we took it to volvo.. And they found the intake valve problems in cyl 2 and 4, and then destroyed all the valves during reassembly and that's how the whole head got done.

I had a whole thread about all those misfire issues leading to the rebuilt head.. My gf drives the car more than me and she noticed it Monday. So today's Friday, and she said today it wasn't as bad as during the week. I drove the car and noticed it immediately.

Man, your journey has been epic.
Haha its just one problem after another. Hopefully it's just a bad wire. The vvt solenoid was throwing a cold a few weeks ago too.. Ugggh

The s40 made me buy a 99 jeep Cherokee. I had to get something simple to work on again.

I'm waiting on an o2 sensor, gonna throw that in this weekend and see what happens. I figure I'll fix whatever problems I have and go from there. I checked the connector and it looked good. It's probably gunked up from the misfire issues.

I don't have any codes in the system. Everything else is performing flawlessly, yet it does not respond immediately as it should. I'm considering removing the throttle body and inspecting/cleaning it this weekend. If I find anything, I'll get some pictures and report findings.

I didn't have a check engine light, and my odb scanner didn't read the code.. The icarsoft that interfaces with the different modules like dice, thats where I got the codes from. So if you don't have a dice compatible scanner, you might not even see the codes until it throws an emissions based cel.

Cleaning the throttle body made little difference. I completely disassembled it and it was nice for a couple minutes until the computer relearned. That tells me there's something else not performing correctly. I know I need to replace the oil filter housing, possible the BCS and I think I'm going to inspect the compressor bypass valve next.
