Polestar XC60 brakes on XC90?

Hello everyone, I searched on this and nothing came up surprisingly... I believe I had seen online (somewhere) that the 2018+ Polestar XC60 brakes can be fitted to an 2016+ XC90 as a bolt on upgrade. I know Viva performance offers a kit for this... but my question is in regards to the brake lines.

Has anyone heard of or done this upgrade to their XC90? If so, were you able to use the Polestar XC60 brake lines on a XC90 with air suspension?

I believe everything is bolt on but the Polestar XC60 does not come with air suspension and I do not know if that is an issue on using the brakes on a XC90 that does have air suspension. Are the brakes lines on air suspension equipped vehicles longer to support the height adjustment?

Uh, adding braking power to a large heavy SUV is not making it something it is not... and having larger rotors for better heat dissipation, larger pads for better swept area and friction capability, and higher piston count calipers for better clamping force is not what I would call equivalent to "slapping an M badge" on. :ROFLMAO:

Physics supports the larger brakes as safer than just swapping pads even if the cost is much higher. ;)

We can agree to disagree... hopefully someone else can answer the question.

For starters, the minimum wheel size for the Polestar Akebono calipers is 21". They physically won't fit on a smaller wheel.

If you're going for looks, that's one thing like I said. If you're going for performance, you're not going to achieve a noticeable impact for the cost/benefit of just installing some normal aftermarket performance pads/rotors. As someone who owns them, the Polestar Akebono brakes are incredibly grabby and chirp constantly at low speeds. They do their job at higher speeds, but nothing my Audi S4 isn't still capable of with its much smaller stock Audi Sport caliper/brake setup.

Someone else may be able to speak to actual compatibility between the 60/90.

Bigger brakes is the same thing as tuning the engine, just the opposite. Nobody is bashing on anyone for putting a Hilton tune on their car without upgrading their brakes. A T8 is more than adequate for taking advantage of the polestar setup, if conditions require it.

Also, there is no single external "mod" part that catches the eye of the initiated like beefy six pot calipers. Just forget everything about spoilers, winglets, splitters, carbonfibre mirror caps and what not. Smack those polestar babies on and youre done and noone will make fun of you.

Alas, it doesn't looks like these will work with my 2019 XC60...
But THANKS for posting the info!

Do I even want to know what that cost you?

I am not using the Akebono brakes from the XC60... mine are the Brembo versions from the S60/V60 Polestar which uses a smaller rear brake than my stock XC90 T8 version so I kept my factory brakes in the rear.

My R-Design came with 20" from Volvo... and you can source aftermarket quality wheels with low weight if you look for them. Larger size does not always = more weight.

Not sure why these brakes would not work on a 2019 XC60, I thought all of the SPA vehicles were similar in design. This is why I was able to use a S60/V60 Polestar brakes on my XC90 SUV. Bolted right on...

It should, seems all the SPA cars use a similar mounting. My kit was from a S60/V60 and I know there are XC90's using the XC60 Polestar brakes. Looks like they are all cross compatible.
