Pirelli Tires Warranty

I found a nail in my rear passenger tire after getting a low pressure warning. It's not a run flat but PNCS noise canceling tire that is not supposed to be plugged according to Pirelli. But I did see elsewhere that Pirelli will warranty the tire, even from road hazard (I only have 6k miles on them and had the car 8 months). Has anyone tried to work with Volvo on a Pirelli warranty replacement?

If a Run Flat or PNCStire becomes unserviceable due to road hazard damage within the first year from the date of purchase,or within the first 2/32" of the original usable tread, whichever occurs first, the Pirelli tire will be replaced with an identical or comparable tire at no charge for the tire to the owner, including mounting and balancing(subject to applicable limitations)

Why do you need to "work with Volvo?"

Volvo is a third party here. The warranty provider is Pirelli. If you have an issue with the tire then you make arrangements with Pirelli to have it replaced at all authorized dealer.

They can 100% be repaired. There are instructions on how to do this. Shops saying they can't, just want to sell you a new tire instead of repair. As long as the nail/screw isn't on the outer inch of tread, should be fine to repair. I've done many myself.

Thanks...the reason I asked about working with Volvo is because apparently not all dealers are educated in the fact that Pirelli will replace it for free. There was a lot of discussion about it on a BMW forum. There is no working with Pirelli, it just says to take it to an authorized retailer.
I went to tire discounters, they are aware of the warranty and said they would work with Pirelli to get it taken care of but they had to order in the tire. I'm aware that it can be patched but it's a lease and technically I cannot turn in back in with a patched run flat tire (not that they would know really). However, since I can get a new one for free, I'll certainly take that route. Good info for anyone else that has the same misfortune.

Interesting and weird
There is no such guarantee in the EU and the rest of the world
Why would Pirelli or any other tire manufacturer give a warranty on a tire if the tire is pierced during the ride or otherwise
It's not their fault, the physical damage to the tire

So after 10-11 months, you can pierce one tire every seven days and ask for a replacement from the manufacturer
You get 4 new tires in 4 weeks

big difference between tires purchased and tires that came with the car. id be shocked if pirelli warranties the tire for you if it is the original one to the car. they need a proof of purchase, what will you show? tire sale date and installation facility? tire warranty are a nightmare in the best cases and rejected in the rest. do wish you luck though

Exactly. Pirelli is one of THE worst tire manufactures to try and get any warranty claim fulfilled. We have in the past gotten approval to replace a few sets of tires by Pirelli directly only to later have them reject the claim even though every step was followed to the T and stiffed on payment. Our parts manager now refuses to deal with any Pirelli claim and rightfully so. They wear awful anyway, always have. First 2/32 of wear on a Pirelli is about 3-4K miles. Good luck.

I bought he Volvo VIP tire and wheel warranty/insurance — mainly because of the 20 inch wheels. I had a flat about six weeks ago and the dealer replaced the tire rather than repair it. They said that it was easier to replace than repair because of the process required due to the foam.
