Two questions, do you know if the stock XC90 inscription comes with the Pirelli noise cancelling system in their tires? Is it worth paying the 200 dollar premium for the scorpions with NCS? Interested in your thoughts? Thanks.

It’s the same tech the Teslas use if I’m correct. There’s an inner foam liner around the inside of the tire.

Advantage. Less noise.

Disadvantage? More expensive. Also I’ve heard reports of it delaminating and causing balance issues. If you get a flat tire it also makes the repair more difficult. They have to peel away the foam in order to patch the tire then glue it back on.

Our OSD MY2019 T8 Inscription came with 20" rims with Pirelli Verde All-Seasons (275/45R20) without the Pirelli noise cancelling system (PNCS). We drove it about 5 hours max and didn't notice much noise. I'm thinking we were just too excited about the new XC90 and we had 4 adults and 3 kids in the car all yappin' - so this is a bad data point.
Once stateside we switched to 22" rims with Pirelli Scorpion Verde summer tires (275/35R22) with PNCS and Pirelli Scorpion Winter tires (265/35R22) with PNCS. PNCS seems to keep road noise down quite well all year round and I love hearing nothing when in electric mode at lower speeds (ie no wind noise). Sadly I can't say how much better no-PNCS is versus PNCS, but PNCS seems to work for me.
Good luck deciding.

My dealer covered the replacement of a tire rather than trying to patch it because of the noise canceling foam. Service advisor said that many of their customers are going with non noise canceling versions of tires when the OEM tires are replaced.

My V90 XC came with 20 in. PNCS tires and I hate those tires with a passion. The foam material keeps coming loose inside the tire causing severe wheel imbalance as it moves around. So far 2 tires have exhibited the problem and we decided to take all the foam out of those. I expect we’ll be have to do that to the other two in the near future.
