Hello all, thank you for reading this.
I own a 2017 XC90 D5 Inscription Pro. In the past year I have experienced issues with 'phantom' warnings on my car - I use the phrase 'phantom' because I don't beleive they are real. My reason is twofold - the vehcile has been taken to a main dealer for an inspection (whilst the warnings are active) and they could not fault the vehicle. They could also not explain why I was getting the warnings.
Secondly, the warnings are intermittant, disappearing for weeks at a time. Whey they do appear, they often disappear from the dashboard within minutes, but when they don't they render systems such as the cruise control unusuable. As for the warnings themselves, they do not appear to be accurate/real, in the sense that the vehicle is driveable and the 'afftected' systems still work, such as the ABS for instance.
So I'm not sure where to turn with this. The only thing of note recently is a problem I have had with the air suspension where a fuse blew. I replaced this, and it worked for 24hrs before stopping again. I took it to a main dealer who said the vehcile settings needed to be reset, though I am aware of a recall on the compressors and this should have been changed despite being out of warranty. The dealership involved refused to do this and said there was no problem with mine.
Therefore I am left puzzled how to resolve the warnings when Volvo themselves cannot fault it. When getting my tyres changed recently, Kwik FIt recommended I disconnect the electrics to see if this reset the systems, however I am not keen on having to return to Volvo (plus a ÂŁ150+ bill) for them to reset the settings if these are lost.
I appreciate some may say to ignore it if it does not affect me, but I was told at a recent MOT that if these indicators appeared during the test it would fail. THis would be do even if I could demonstrate that the fault has been deemed as a 'no-fault'. I don't know how to solve it when Volvo cannot (or will not) fix it, other garages such as Kiwk Fit do not have the systems to do a full test/repair, and I could have my vehicle deemed unroadworthy if it appears on an MOT. Any support or guidance would be hugely appreciated, and thank you in advance.
