happend to my R, all the blue is gone, so its just all silver and doesnt bother me anymore. just take it all off it doesnt look too bad

 

Damn....I was hoping there was some magic chrome paint or tape that would fix it. I don't want a plastic white logo.

 

OH your chrome is pealing!? just the blue that backdrops the volvo word is gone, all the chrome is still there and looks shiny sliver still. the white plastic would bother me too.. but sorry i have no info for you.. try to find a new airbag on ebay or something?

 

Ugg, mine just started to do this same exact thing this week! Can you not just go to the dealer and get a new emblem to replace it?

 

They are plastic. They are part of the airbag. They are cheaply made and peel. They cant be polished. They cant be replaced on their own. There is no solution. The world is ending.....
Seriously, its happenong on my wifes r, but never did on my r. Seems to be sluck, some peel, some dont. Only thing i could think of is to finish scraping off the chrome and carefully painting it (nickel silver or matte black? Dont know...). Not sure what to do, but its not an individually replaceable part, its. Not warrantied, and its an embarrasment to the brand....

This is a know issue with Volvo. Take it back to the dealer, complain about the peeling and safe issues. They will replace it. They did on mine.

 

Huh I have a nice looking Volvo and R badge laying around. I cut them out from the deployed airbag on my R.

 

Here are some pics that may help you from my experience:

When you pry off the old one be careful or you will damage your steering wheel. When prying the emblem off twist the pry tool instead of prying the normal way. I lightly sanded mine with a very fine grit sand paper and spray painted it chrome. It took a few coats.

 

My blue part is gone. One day I rubbed my finger across the Volvo emblem and the blue part just slid right off. I intended to try and stick it back on, but then I lost it.

 

honestly Erie VoVo is your best source of replacement for one of these cause they get cars in with bags blown so the emblem is of no use on the wheel anymore.

 

Erie by NY law will not sell used airbags

 

^If you read the entire post he was proposing that the OP request erie to remove ONLY the emblem from a blown bag.
