My 2011 S80-T6 has 165,000 on it. I started experiencing engine overheating at low speeds and received a warning light a couple times. At high speeds with air flow, temperatures run normal in the air conditioner runs fine.

Driving in the city at slow speeds causes the AC to not function properly and the engine gets into the 220- 240 range.

I replaced the thermostat over the weekend. It was pretty straightforward and everything seemed to work perfectly on a 30 minute test drive in var ying conditions.

The car set for a few days over the 4th of July weekend.
Today when driving through the city and hot weather, I started experiencing the same issues with the engine getting hot and the air conditioning getting warm.

I also heard a rhythmic noise with the air conditioner on which would stop when I turned it off..

I tried to add a sound clip and link but the form wouldn't let me

It sounds like it's coming more from underneath the turbo hose.

Any thoughts from you experienced people?

Engine at idle, AC turned to low, cabin fan on high, does the radiator fan operate? The radiator fan acting up is about the only thing that will cause water temp to overheat.
I would go to xemodex.com, order/replace the radiator fan control module no matter what.
Normally the fan controller will fail causing the radiator fan to run all the time draining the battery.
