OBD2 - USB Cable?

I have VIDA/DICE for my Volvo but I have maintenance responsibilities for two non-Volvos. I got to thinking that I could use the same laptop to read OBD2 codes with an appropriate cable.

There seems to be a ton of crappy OBD2-USB cables on the market.

Does anyone have any experience with a decent one?

Also, can the DICE unit be used with non-Volvos by using different software?

The problem is that the cheap ones are just that. Cheap. I use a bluetooth OBD2 adapter with my laptop and cellphone. Works great.

Depends on which phone you have. I have a VGate and it works super fast and I have also used OBDLink. I prefer OBDLink and if you have an iPhone VGate won't work on some models.

Do you have a laptop with bluetooth? If not... you could buy a super cheap android phone just for diag. Or a bluetooth adapter for your laptop. They have USB ones for like 15$...

So if you have a DICE with Bluetooth, even if the computer has Bluetooth you will need to buy the Volvo Bluetooth adapter. It is required for pairing. If you are going to use a universal Bluetooth OBD2 adapter, then any Bluetooth will work.
