The odd thing happened today I've yet to witness before. When I started my V40 and for a moment the low on fuel notification appeared in Chinese letters and after a while went back to Finnish!

Has similar happened to anyone else? šŸ™‚šŸ™ƒ

That was my first thought as well. The battery is five years old now and it was showing weakness during the last winter.

Though for a split second I suspected I'm being hacked by the Chinese because I always tend to mock them if given a chance šŸ˜„

I had a similar experience recently, our 2015 (P3) XC60 (which always drops a ā€œLow Batteryā€ Warning) showed the Message in Japanese.

Maybe that's a sign of low voltage/as already mentioned a dying battery.

I was working at a Volvo dealer when the P3 S60L were for sale. While the standard S60 was made in Sweden, the S60L (or Inscription) was made in China - as noted by the VIN beginning with an "L" instead of the "Y" for Swedish cars.

During the PDI - Pre Delivery Inspection - we had to connect a battery maintainer to the battery to load the software package on the car and it was interesting that the label on the batteries in the Chinese cars were mostly in Chinese versus the English of every other Volvo car we had ever seen.
