this was posted last month... but wanted to provide a short update:

98 silver V70R
http://savannah.craigslist.org/cto/5460128337.html
----
1998 special Volvo v70R automatic
rebuilt engine transmission suspension 8 month ago 4500$ job
Autosport Savannah mechanic
everything works great
new paint job $2600
----

I texted the number in the CL listing and got a text back to text another guy. Texted the 2nd guy but no response. Call the number and left a message and the guy calls me back a few hours later. It has about 215k miles. He could not really answer why the engine, transmission, and suspension were rebuilt. Did not know if PCV was done.

He had originally posted a thread on matt's (http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...osite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=72952&sid=edd769108829e0f3ba2ea82e2d699263) back in Nov 2015. Then went dark and did not respond to PMs. Additional pics on Matt's.

You can see parts of the V70R in a couple of the pics of the Shop's site: http://www.autosportofsavannah.com/gallery/

I cannot talk the wife into letting me take on a project at this time... and cannot make the trip from atlanta to savannah, otherwise, I would lowball him and save this R.

So I tried to contact the seller months ago to ask for some specific additional details, but they didn't reply. After a few attempts, the seller only said "call me." This one doesn't really meet my criteria, but at the price, as long as there's nothing seriously wrong, it would be a good deal. (FYI, the parts car is separate. $500.)

That car has been ruined by someone who doesn't understand Volvo maintenance.

It's also been for sale for half a year.

How is it all 4 door panels haven't pealed?

That color is really growing on me, but what is it about sellers with the third row seating? How many people actually make use of that feature? If anything I think of it as a negative on potential purchase because of the extra weight. Maybe it's just me. End rant.

Talking with this guy....

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/5460028459.html

It's a very nice, clean model, for sure. But really worth more than DOUBLE the blue book? 120K miles isn't "low-miles"... right? I get it, it's nice, and has the maintenance done, and the manual transmission.... and the 3rd row seat is cool (not that I'd really even use it).... but TWICE the blue-book?

These cars are getting to be pretty long in the tooth by now, and I've seen enough crummy ones that when a really nice one shows up, I'm impressed. At 12 years old, you could almost call it a "survivor".
Maintenance is everything on these cars. It pretty much determines whether it will live a long and happy life, or die a premature death. You see a lot of 130-140K-mile cars where the timing belt still hasn't been done, and if it's a manual, still the original clutch. So there's $1500-2000 worth of work you don't have to do. But still, $13K is a real reach. I could see $10-11K.

Did someone here buy this? I immediately contacted this seller, was told he'd provide info Friday/Saturday, then despite a couple followup emails and texts over the weekend, got a text tonight that it's sold. Second seller in a row to sell right out from underneath my efforts. WTF?! I had cash in hand and would have booked a flight as soon as I got the info I asked for... :angryfire:

2007 V70R GT, 81K, Titanium/Nordkap, Portland OR

I heard from this guy again, he had been out of town. He answered a couple questions. I told him I had bought another car, but I would post his here:

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/5448022440.html

"They are very small dings I just like to be upfront so Sameday would be good in my opinion. As for the other things I think its best just to take a peak at it if you have time, I drive around various parts of town frequently so I'm sure we could figure something out. Its been a great car for me and there has been no issues for me the last 2 plus years. The only thing I have done is the 60,000 mile service which I got at about 63,000 at MVP Volvo. Just that and regular oil changes."

If only it was a manual.
