Wow, that is surprising. I didn't believe it, so I went on-line to Volvo's accessories web page, and sure enough . . . no touch-up pen is available. Only available in spray form. The paint code is 720.

I second Dr. Colorchip. We bought it to do the same for my XC90 - to touch up rock chips. I was very skeptical at first, but it works well and matches the paint perfectly.

 

Well, my detailer offers to do touch up when they do paint correction but prefer a factory kit to ensure same quality and color as whats on the car. I have heard good things about Dr Colorchip as well, just was trying to avoid a aftermarket solution to this problem.

Yes, I am aware that there are aftermarket options for touch up paint but am shocked Volvo does not offer one for this color themselves. You take a chance on the paint match when using a non-factory based option in my opinion.

 

Does anybody know if there is touch up paint available for the silver on the mirrors?

I seem to recall Electric Silver Metallic is also off the touch up paint list and that’s what we’re ordering...

 

I have a little scratch on my new 2020 XC 40 from loading a dog crate into the backseat. I’m in the process of choosing a touchup paint pen. Three different brands were suggested over the years in this topic. Has anybody purchased one of those brands and had good results?

Hi Nora, I never did find a touch up kit to use but I can tell you that matching Bursting Blue is very challenging. When I had my wide body kit installed on my XC90 it had to be repainted due to a mis-match in color. This was through a professional body shop using the paint code from Volvo. It is apparently a very complicated mix to get the right hue... they even had one of the paint shop guys come to the shop to help on getting the color right.

 

Check steingold volvo website. They have the largest collection if Volvo touch paint on list. I found Fusion Red there.

Try buff it first. Usually not easy for a crate to scratch deep into the paint. Very slight scratch can be buffed off. It looks like a scratch but actually only on the surface of clean coat.

 

Oh OK. Good idea.
