Have owned a 1996 S70 t5 and currently an 2004 V70 2.4na still runs strong at 220k miles.

Wanting to pull the trigger on a 2013 XC70 3.2 with 135k miles listed for $10k that is white with beige interior looks to be in good shape although wish it had the 2014 virtual speedometer but cant find anything even across the country at this price which I still think is a little high.

I love my volvo mostly because of the incredible flat and spacious cargo space perfect for roadtrip car camping and the solid feel of the engine and quality and comfort of the whole car in general as well as I love the aesthetics of the v70 body. Is this a good buy? I do miss the turbo of my old s70t but I generally feel that a turbo could cause more problems than the NA. I really have not find any other car that has the interior comfort as well as the cavernous space in the back with the flat load floor.

Should I go for it or what, new to forum, nice forum ya got here.

Also forgot to mention the old s70 saved my life in a major accident when I was hit by a big ass truck with a grill guard on the drivers side, walked away completely unharmed, and also lived in the v70 for a year during some hard times. So I trust volvo for life has literally saved my life twice.

these new volvos are just as much of tanks as the old ones, mine has been rear ended twice totaling one of the cars, smacked into a concrete support beam with the fender and broke the support beam, ran off the road and flung 10 feet in the air, and the car hit a deer. the only thing that needed replacing was the rear bumper and bumper support, and the finder is dented. i love this car and i couldnt break it if i wanted to. previous owner was my mom who had an alchohol problem so that how i know all this stuff happened lol

I hear the T6 is actually more reliable than the N/A - and it would of course be more fun to drive. Something to think about, although I'm sure both are solid. T6 has beefier engine internals from what I remember.

I talked to a volvo mechanic here on the phone and when I asked his opinion on the 2013 xc70 first thing he said was "is it the 3.2?" And then said "that's the good one"

Also I guess I have my choice between a 2013 XC70 3.2 @135k mi. Or 2012 XC60 T6 @145k mi. Not sure what to think ofthe xc60 both are same price I'm really feeling like both have a lot of miles for $10 grand but I haven'tseen anything lower even by owners

Another mechanic told me the 2010 xc60 has some goofy design with the alternator that causes problems that the xc70 does not have both with the 3.2, anyone else know if that was a problem for 2010 year or is it all xc60s I think I will just exclude the xc60 as from pictures it looks kind of soccer mom crossover like. Not that the xc70 wagon is less so lol but I like it better.

The p3’s are even better than your 04 p2. Our 08 3.2 engine is still running great at 173k miles and the car looks & drives like new. The p3’s are holding their value well and deals are hard to find. The 3.2 is not a rocket, but you will pay more for a T6. I don’t like the interior of the XC60 as well, not as refined or comfortable. Good luck!

I've noticed! Seems like even some '09s are still going for about $8k this car seems like it may have the potential to be a model that actually starts to raise in value 20 years from now unless we are all in flying electric cars by then, given that it was that lost real boss wagon other than cheap subarus, I feel stupid paying $10k for a car as I've always bought cheap used but this seems like most of the depreciation factor has left this car while it still has plenty of life left.

you'll probably get used to it, they are very high up cars and basically drive like an suv.

It is a very nice car, I feel kinda stupid buying like I'm bourgeoisie now, kinda miss my old v70 beater newer cars are so much bigger and feel less maneuverable in general, has anybody had their xc70 lowered? I definitely wouldn't describe it s fun to drive but on the freeway it's theperfect cruiser and I was mostly thinking about a good car for long road trips, this thing is made to travel at 80 mph that's for sure, it is the premier package but no navigation

When the budget allows, consider installing a heavier rear sway bar. The first thing we did to our '16 was adding an ipd rear bar which made a considerable improvement to the car's handling.

The V70 is VERY low to the ground, so it’s not surprising that you’re experiencing a difference in driving the ever-so-elevated XC70. I do believe that with some time you’ll adjust to the height - don’t go spending $$ to lower her before you get to know her! I went from a C30 to my XC70 and god did this car feel like a whale at first... and I have the T6! But honestly? It feels nimble and I no longer feel high up after 3k miles. The size is much appreciated as I can throw anything in the back any time - not the case in my old XC70. And it’s getting the best MPG average of any Volvo I’ve had, sparing my 11’ XC60.

Enjoy the new ride!

Very nice!

I drove a ton of xc60s, 70s, and 90s to decide what was right.
The cost and options helped, but the height and clearance on the 60 won for my needs.

I imagine you'll get used to it real quick, it's not a low car, but, you won't scrape driveways, speedbumps, and turning radius is pretty great (compared to P2's that is)

Am I imagining it or is the v70 p2 slightly larger as far as cargo space with seats folded, I do like how the bottom seats dont need to flip up to put the seatbacks flat but they kinda functioned as a rest for a pillow nicely, a thought now I have room to store stuff in the foot space for the backseats

I have an REI campdreamer xl which by the way is an incredible sleeping pad that has been more comfortable than many mattresses and has a pillow that functions as the inflator, I seem to have slightly less room with in the back than before with my '04 v70, the sleeping pad is 38"x78" luckily it had sections so it can bend near the end to sit upright for the extra length of it, otherwise I'm thinking a 72" sleeping pad will fit perfectly, this car makes me want to go on a camping or road trip just for the hell of it. In my 04' I actually took home a queen sized sera mattress real cool spring not a memory foam in the back ofthe v70. I really like the extended cargo space under the load floor with the struts can fit many tools or other slender items like cleaning bottles etc. This car keeps shocking me though seems overcharged

The seats are truly the best and I had a herniated disc im only now finally recovering from any other seat would not worktf. I really liked the 5 cylinder feel, this engine still feels very solid but a little more generic but definitely more power and extremely smooth and quiet, I find myself immediately at 80mph, I read complaints that its sluggish for me I hate speeding tickets and prefer to cruise and stay as far away from other drivers as possible (as 80 percent are complete morons or distracted/ dont understand physics) plenty of power for me. I really think at 10 grand this was a good investment considering it only has 135k and many older ones I see are still going for 12 grand or so.

I drove a number of XC70s before deciding to hold out for the V70 ... good examples of which are harder to find. Close relatives, of course, but different from the driver's seat. The T6 in the XC is great; it's faster than any school bus needs to be. But the car still felt like a school bus to me. Getting ready to order an IPD bar soon (does anyone know whether I can do the install with ramps vs. jack stands ... i.e. without unloading the rear suspension?).

It definitely feels like a school bus, but it also feels significantly newer and smoother all the way around p2 feels like the 90s cars almost. And I really think the cargo space is smaller in the p3, slightly, yet this xc70 is longer and nearly the same height as a newish toyota rav 4 I had no issues parking precisely in small spaces now I feel like I cant tell exactly where I'm at in relation to other cars. My only problem with the p2 is how many little things went wrong with it besides the sturdy transmission and engine like the windows, suspension and gauge cluster, does anyone know if they fixed the gauge cluster issues by 2007?

Took xc70 on a trail this morning up to a hiking spot, the road is used by atvs mountain bikes and generally awd/4wd cars and trucks is mostly a one lane dirt and gravel has some benign spots but also some very deep rotted spots that my old v70 wouldve been no match for. Is a very fun trail to drive up and down several fun corners and some good offroading parts, she handled it like a boss! The ground clearance was absolutely necessary.

This area had a good view but was one of the smoother parts of road. Kept up with jeep in front of me through deep rutted areas and really like how it has the clearance and capability of any off road vehicle but isnt high and tippy like an suv the cornering through the tighter banked gravel hairpins was a lot of fun, wasnt sure about having a high riding car but now I'll never go back.
