New Jersey Roundup - FINAL DETAILS & ITENERARY

To my local paRtners in crime...

To say that Michael Lymar @ Paul's Motors in Hawthorne is a GREAT GUY and is HOOKING US UP is a complete understatement.

Here is the plan for SATURDAY, September 24th:

- Meet at Paul's between 9am and 9:15 am

- Have coffee and donuts, get to know everybody, receive map for Bear Mountain route that Michael has planned.

- Michael and one of the mechanics will ride in two of the cars, we will have a "scenic ride" (speedy ride) up through Bear Mountain, with a pee break at the turn-around point. This will be lots of fun, fairly high speed driving and we should be returning to the dealership at about 2:30 pm.

- Upon our return, we will receive drinks and sub sandwiches

- Then we will take a guided tour of their facility and talk shop with the mechanics.

- We will then have a discussion on care care with their techs.

- To top it off, Michael is donating several raffle items including a Volvo "R" wrist watch, two $50 gas cards and everyone will receive a $100 off any best deal voucher for their next new or used car.

WHAT A GREAT DAY THIS HAS TURNED OUT TO BE. I WILL SEND EVERYONE ON THE "YES" LIST AN E-MAIL CONFIRMING THIS INFORMATION!!!

See you at Pauls Motors (990 Goffel Rd, Hawthorne, NJ)

Also, Michael has even extended an offer to do something "extra special" for each of us.

That being said, please e-mail me the model and year of your car, along with your license plate number. This information will only be shared with me, Mike from Paul's and will most likely end up on a personalized souvenier.

IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY CONFIRMED YOUR ATTENDANCE WITH ME VIA E-MAIL, PLEASE DO SO BY THIS COMING THURSDAY. WE HAVE 10 CONFIRMED PARTICIPANTS THUS FAR.
Have a great weekend!

Schweet! Nice work Frank.

I hope that we get allot of participation - I am looking forward to meeting everyone. My experience with Pauls has always been top notch & I hope that you all can come and experience their hospitality first hand.

Any attendees have any photography skills? The proposed cruise route has several really cool photo ops.

T minus 7 days and counting...

If you want to do a fast Bear Mountain run, though, you're better off doing it at night. There's a state police station right in the middle of it, and park police all over. Also, during the day you have to share the road with people cruising, motorcyclists, cyclists, runners, walkers, fishers... It's beautiful to cruise mid-day and makes for a good photo-op, but not wise or fair to speed.

10PM or so is when it's vacated, that's when you have your fun... but watch for deer!

I just want to verify that this GTG is in fact SATURDAY the 24th... rainmaker71s email says "Sunday, September 24th"

If it was Sunday, I'd be able to go, but not Saturday the 24th...

Saturday, definitely Saturday http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Everything that Kurt says is correct. The best and only time
for fast runs are around midday during the week say a Tuesday or Wednesday and then only with spotters communicating to drivers via
radio.

The weekends are packed with hikers and bicycles and other obstacles.

This particular weekend mentioned is Oktoberfest at Bear Mountain and all of the roads will be packed if the weather is good. I am going to try to catch up with some Volvo's if they are in the area still at 4pm. I hope I see
you and you will follow me to some secret other locations in the Sterling Forest area http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Anybody that is interested coming from Central Jersey we can meet at Best Buy across from Bridgewater Mall at 8 am and leave at 8:15 for Hawthorne. The Best Buy parking lot is smaller with one entrance. When entering the parking lot about 100' down the driveway there is parking on the left. We can then head up 287 to 208 to Goffle Road. The car with GPS can lead

My wife wanted to know how I knew this was not some organized car theft ring stealing Rs. She thought it would be funny if our cars were all taken and we were all left standing carless, in Hawthorne, in our "R" embroidered preppy underwear.

Excellent,
Not to intimidate you guys but I took the day off to clean the car. I even cleaned the brake dust out of my Wheel "R"
Image
It's amazing how the road rash just spreads on those 18"wheels. The only thing that saves them is the Pirelli Active Rim Protector. You hit a bump and a bubble pops out to protect the rim.
Image
The unfortunate part is that it appears the bubble protects after the rim scrapes...

Re: New Jersey Roundup - FINAL DETAILS & ITENERARY (igvolvo)

I have to work tomorrow and also I am buying a 06 GT. What a coincident
thing that I am hopefully buying an R but ironic also working 1000-1500 tomorrow so as to miss the meeting. But also maybe I can come with the 6MT because the dealer does not meet my price demands. Either way I am partying right now and I am Volvo all the way but am a big time volvo rally guy with much Bear Mountain/Harriman experience http://********************/smile/emthup.gif
