Volvo C70 Inscription - Unique Look for Convertible Connoisseurs

As the Volvo C70 moves towards the end of its production run, Volvo Cars has launched a tailored take on the drop-top coupe within the schema of its "Inscription" line. As is usual with Inscription cars, this latest C70 wears tailored trim that takes the interior to a new level. And fittingly for a convertible, Volvo plans to introduce the C70 Inscription at the L.A. Auto Show this month. Read more in the PR materials after the jump and check out all of the released photos in the photo gallery.

Will this be available for OSD this summer?? Hope to place order in March. Is this the swan song for the C70 or are they just spicing it up??

Probably not, Marc, although you never know. This version will be a limited run of about 500 units, for the U.S.

This is not the "swan song" for the C70. It still has some life to it!

Apart from the interior, they will come in 2 exterior colors: Black or Ice White.

They will also have some additional, silver, trimming around the fog light bezel (a la R-design) and a special, black-trimmed version of the MIDIR wheels.

C70 Inscription is now available for ordering via Overseas Delivery...

The Inscription package is now available for the 2012 Volvo C70 via Overseas Delivery. A C70 with the Inscription package is a modified C70 hardtop convertible featuring added horsepower and torque, and unique interior and exterior details.

The C70 Inscription offers performance tuning to the Engine Control Module (ECM). Provided by Polestar, a Swedish racing and performance products company, the tuning optimizes engine output. More air and fuel are funneled into the combustion chambers and spark timing is advanced, creating notable performance gains. The turbocharged 5-cylinder engine generates 250 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 273 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm.

The Inscription package introduces several new features on the C70, including 18 inch Midir wheels, a black grille surrounded by chrome, Sovereign Hide upholstery, a leather-covered dashboard, and Inscription floor mats, hand brake lever and front headrests. It's available in just two colors: Ice White and Black Sapphire. The C70 Inscription package is $3,900. Overseas Delivery specifications and pricing have been updated with this new information online.

Very sad that production of the C70 is stopping in 2013. We bought ours OSD in June '11 and love it. I sure do wish Volvo would reconsider and maybe advertise that they make a convertible. I hear from my dealer that S60 and XC60 sales really increased last year, when Volvo started an agressive ad program. It amazes me the number of people who have asked me "who makes that car"? or say "I didn't know Volvo makes a convertible".

True story...I didn't know that Volvo made a convertible. I was traveling for work in AZ. A C70 parked beside me in a lot. I waited for the owner to get out, go in the store and then I checked out her car. I called my husband, said "I've found my next car". We picked our C70 up in Gothenburg 8 months later.

Anyone else out there bummed?
