Got my insurance bill yesterday, since I just replace '17 F-Pace S with '18 XC90 T8 Insription. Got my insurance bill and behold - when I was expecting XC90 to be 2X the X3 in the insurance cost, it ended up being 30% less. Hope whomever is researching sees this. Can't be any happier :)

My 2018 Volvo V90 CC ($71,500 sticker) is 25% cheaper to insure than a 2017 Ford Fusion ($32,000 sticker) that I was looking at (both of course with the same deductibles and the same everything)!

I was almost happily shocked when my Insurance agent gave me their final quotes over the phone and I re-confirmed the amounts twice just to be sure. Volvos, IMO, are the best cars to buy if you are over-sensitive about your Insurance costs. Good for us!

Maybe people who drive Volvo's historical have fewer claims. Cheap economy cars are often more expensive to insure because new/young drivers can afford them and new drivers wreck a lot more often than experienced drivers.

I traded in my 2015 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Platinum in for the 2017 XC90 T8 and the insurance added $31 for the remainder of the year. I was also very surprised and pleased. Perhaps Volvo is associated with more conservative drivers?

My wife's 2018 XC90 costs less to insure than my 2015 Honda Accord. I was shocked when I first learned this.

OTOH the safety features are for real. The car braked by itself when someone suddenly stopped in front of us, IMO this is a great feature. (Disclosure: I disabled as many of the beep & bops that the car sends out if you're too close to something and also the annoying light on the dash, but it seems the "auto braking" is still there, thankfully)

I had an old car that was 10% the cost of my loaded Volvo XC90 RDesign and the insurance was the same. The cost of replacing the car is not the main concern of auto insurance companies, but massive medical bills if you get injured. And in the XC90 getting hurt is less likely than pretty much any other car on the road

Yes yes lets keep talking about how little we pay to insure our Volvo's. May be together we will manage to convince insurance companies to charge us 2x next year :D.

Please people, don't be shocked. We have insurance trolls among us wholl suddenly increase our premiums seeing that many here expected to pay more.

Holding thumbs that your shock didn't jinx it for us

Our 2016 XC90 Inscription has been hovering around $150 per 6 month period. We don't skimp out on coverage and claim 15k miles driven per year with glass covered as well.

I've heard insurance is so cheap because occupants in a Volvo involved in an accident are less likely to have serious (and expensive) injuries.

Guys, the more cars you have, the cheaper it is to insure another car. I think we are all comparing apples and oranges here. I doubt everyone here is talking about single car coverage here.

I have three cars in the house, Subaru, BMW and Mercedes. Mercedes is by far the cheapest to insure simply because it is the latest car to be added to our policy.

I thought multi-policy discounts are applied to everything, not just the last one.

I was referring to single car coverage replacing my genesis with my xc90. Half the price. $800 6 months to $400. It’s the only car on the policy. Kind of interesting considering how much safety features my genesis has.
