I know: there's no mp3 ability on any of the audio lines/packages in the new s40/v50 nor has it the availability of an aux-in to connect an external player. But I have a question that in previous topics I did ask for, but never got an answer to:
Is mp3 capability for a cd player just a matter of a firmware/software upgrade or is there more to it? As far as I know it's just all dents in a desk a laser beam is reading, converting it to 0's and 1's. Recognizing, differentiating and interpreting normal audio from mp3 format should be a matter of just software?
If so, will it be so that if pressured/asked for enough, Volvo will develop such an upgrade in the future?
