I figured some people may like to see one of the options for a full size spare tire. The T8s don't come with one unfortunately, but there's no room under the trunk floorboards due to the ERAD and battery. Plus, for most, the patch kit or calling roadside assistance near cities would suffice. I have a tendency to do long cross country drives in remote areas and prefer to be self-reliant.

Ordered the Modern Spare on 11 April, arrived on 27 April. About $575 shipped. A little steep, but the quality is high, and for me the peace of mind is worth it. It came with a name brand tire, and they seem to be well-versed in what works for these cars, as they have specific options for Polestar Engineered models with the larger brakes. Overall, this seems like a great kit. I don't mind spending a few extra bucks for quality that will last, and so far, I'm really impressed with the product. P.S. I am not being paid or compensated in any way for this post.

I opted for the full kit that came with a nice carrying case and all the tools. Of course this does reduce some space in the trunk, but it could easily be arranged in a number of ways. It's a bit heavy, but not unmanageable. The case makes it much easier to deal with.

The tools package secures nicely to the back side of the wheel with a removable strap.

Comes with a jack and other tools that feel really solid. May be a bit redundant with the jack that comes with the car, but I really wanted the carrying case, and the only way to get it was with the tools as a bundle.

Very good looking finish and fit. It could really almost pass as a normal wheel.

According to their information about it, basically 81 MPH limit and unlimited range, within reason and good judgement. It's definitley designed to be used again if necessary.

Would you mind sharing the P/N? Thanks

Part number for what? I don't know if it has one. Their website should have all the info you need if you're interested in getting one.

I also purchased a ModernSpare (#VOV61925W) for my 2023 V60 PE, along with the carrying case (#MCASE276 - no tools). The above part numbers were on my invoice but don't show on the website. We regularly drive to remote National and State Parks that would make a flat tire repair or replacement challenging. At least the spare will make it more likely that we can reach a city with tire service. I purchased a net from Amazon that attaches to the four cargo anchor points to prevent a loose tire from flying around should an accident occur.

Thanks!

The ModernSpare tire is half the width of a regular tire & wheel and much less weight. In respect to price, I would guess it's cheaper (about $465 with shipping) than the price of a full size OEM 19" wheel ($400-$600 used) and tire (maybe $200?). I also didn't want to dedicate so much of the cargo area to a full size tire and wheel. That said, an actual full size wheel and tire is an option.

Interesting that you have a 125/70R19, I have a 135/70R19 in my kit from modernspare:

They must have changed the size for some reason. When I ordered mine, they were just developing the setup.

Hello.

I recently bought the modern spare wheel and tools. 2025 V60 PE.

The jack is a nice step (or two) up from the OEM one . . . I jacked up the rear today to set the adjust the suspension. Then I went change the tire to show the kids how (and see if there would be any surprises). There was a surprise right away. The 22mm socket would not seat on the bolts. Looks like the socket walls were two thick. Perhaps a good amount of pressure is needed? Has anyone here used the included socket to remove the wheel?

Thank you,

Eric

Might be a silly question, but did you remove the plastic lug caps first?
