Loose leather on passenger seat?

Have only had the vehicle about 40 days, and > 50% of the time am driving on my own. The front passenger seat leather seems to be super loose nearest to the door. Seems odd to have this kind of wear and tear that early? Looks worse in real life than the pic.

I think you have a problem with the sponge under the leather, that it has failed for some reason and the leather covering has loosened due to this
The same thing happened to my friend's Passat, they replaced the foam side part and everything was as good as new

Some people enter a car by plopping themselves in the seat. Others slide in. The soft leather like Nappa leather is going to move with you when you do that and may stretch/wrinkle from it - but it doesn't affect the foam structure of the seat.

It's actually no different from leather furniture in your house. If you have the soft leather on your sofa, it's going to stretch and wrinkle based on your ass. The leather in the Momentum/Plus models is much more robust and way less likely to do this actually.

That vehicle is not 2-3 years old, something like this cannot happen on a 40 day old leather seat.

There is clearly a problem with the support - the structure that is located under the leather , which is the spongy part

It's under warranty so if you're concerned of course take it in. But this is the nature of leather. I doubt there is anything wrong with the foam structure in the seat.

Thanks, going to at least call and see. Also have a weird vibration sound coming from the dash when I go over bumps which is driving me batty so maybe they can look to see if something is loose there as well.

So all owners of the Volvo XC60 and other SPA models have seats like this, good to know how bad leather is in the Inscription models
I'm happy because it has R-design and my seats look great after 30,000 kilometers and 5 years :p

If it looks like this after 40 days of use, then after 3 years it will look much worse

Here's a simple solution, let all forum members who have a problem with the leather on the seats, which is stretching, get in touch.

Your leather should absolutely not be doing that. I have 45,000 miles on my driver’s seat in my 2022 Inscription XC60 and it still looks almost brand new.

I had a rattle too, turns out I had a bad door speaker. It’s possible the one in your dash is bad.

That spot does look a little looser than normal. The dealer will probably have their detailer try to tighten it up a bit. I've done this on older cars with a steamer and heat gun on it's lowest setting or a blow dryer.

One thing that OP purchased the car 40 days ago. Did he say it was brand new? 😁
Whenever I see these seat and leather topics people never mention the height and weight of the driver, passenger or dog. It’s important to know that in Sweden the average man/woman isn’t 300 lbs so maybe their choice of material perfect for European and Asian customers but not for the US. It’s not a joke. American cars and furnitures have gigantic seats compared to European brands.

It's not your weight. I know my wife (she's short stuff) would go from the edge of the seat and slide in. Over the years, every car of hers would get crinkly over there - whether it was leather or cloth. The only one that didn't ... her present XC60 which is a Momentum. That leather is tough and holds up REAL good. Of all of the Volvos in my family (extended) all but one are Momentum style seats. Only my sister and brother in law insist on the Inscription leather, but they don't have this problem because they're both relatively tall.

The Nappa leather is like the leather you find on home sofas and WILL stretch if you are sliding across it, and will stretch with an imprint of your ass too. But at home on the sofas, you can rotate the cushions which we do.

My wife and son are definitely much shorter than me (5’ and 5’7 respectively).

But I’ve never seen leather get that bad in such a short time. Honestly, if they’ve sat in that seat more than 15 times I’d be surprised.
