Looking to Buy VIDA/Dice

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone had experience recently buying a Vida/Dice unit and where you got it? I'm looking to get one for my '19 xc90.

Many posts say contact Dave Leach, but I can't seem to find him.

I found a couple of websites:
diaglaptops.com
svdns.info

Don't know anything about either site.

I trust you understand the VIDA version that is "sold" aftermarket is the stolen and hacked version of VIDA 2014d. That is the last version published on a DVD in the 4th quarter of 2014. It has info and can talk to cars thru year 2015. It will not be able to talk to your car or give you any repair, parts, service, or replacement procedures for your 2019. There was no Vida 2015a - that's where a hacker modified 2014d to add some later models - but it includes no specific information for the post 2015 cars.

To be able to talk to a pre 2016 car with a Dice unit and get available info from Volvo you will need a VIDA subscription available at volvotechinfo.com

That website mentions that clone DICE unit will not longer work - and posters have verified that their clone dice was not able to "do a software download" (much different that simply scanning the car or requesting info) . A mentioned work around was getting your clone dice "renumbered" using vdash.

Another aftermarket source might be volvodiag.com

A factory dice unit cost about this much - plus cables, Bluetooth dongle and stuff. But doesn't a 2019 need a Ethernet adapter instead of a Dice unit?

You don't need a VOE adapter. You're wasting money if you do buy one... DICE are incredibly slow and offer zero benefit over a generic DoIP cable.

Appreciate you're in US, but a link below to the kind of lead you need. Basically any BMW coding cable (a much more popular market)

I've flashed software to my car, changed config and done various troubleshooting over one of these.

As others have observed, VIDA is online only for SPA platformed cars. There are tools such as DSA if you look hard enough, but these although powerful are basic in the troubleshooting ability. They're more around parameters and configurations.

So are you saying you can run Vida 2014D over ethernet instead of using the "standard" Dice interface?
That seems to be a much more economic option. Do I need any special patch or is there a setting to change the interface output / input?

'19 XC90 is SPA car, the OBDII over ethernet adapter and 3 day VIDA subscription for $75 is what OP should get.

volvotechinfo.com seems to be the website.

VIDA DICE is for P2 cars, and not helpful for SPA cars.

Asking a theoretical question for a friend, of course, but would buying the adapter and the three day sub be the way to go to modify a single ahem limiting setting, or would vdash be a better value?
