Anyone have any comments/suggestions/opinions on replacement struts and shocks for a later model P3 XC70.

Bilstein? touring or yellow? Koni active reds?

Just wanted to get some opinions on how it changed your ride quality?

Thanks

CrossingCountries, have you replaced the shocks on your car yet? I know you've been talking about it... the B4 is largely considered to be an OEM replacement, although they also lower the car if I am not mistaken.

klr142, I've got a set of Koni FSD on the way... hope to get them installed next week. Our suspension is pretty damn worn out at 100K miles, looking forward to having some fresh dampers with a bit of a performance slant versus stock replacements. I'll report back with what I find.

No not yet. The airline is paying me alot less these days so it's on hold for now. It will be B4, they will not lower the car at all - the B6 will, and I will install the VPARTS lifting kit on top of it. XC needs to stay up high. V70 are low riders imho.

I have 4C that was completely shot. I bought the car 2 months ago with 377k kms on the odometer. I'm fairly certain that the 4C was original to the car. the XC felt like I was riding waves in the ocean. I changed out the 4C with KYB shocks and struts. I'm very happy with the ride now. I used the existing springs. Some say that the 4C springs are softer, but I'm comfortable with the ride. I feel planted to the ground but it's comfortable over bumps. On my S80, I have Koni Yellows with lowering springs. It's fairly stiff.

I would highly recommend a rear sway bar. I changed out the one on my S80 when I had first bought it and it felt so much more controlled going around corners. I'll be swapping out the rear sway bar on the XC70 soon.

Good to hear. Please respond with specific details once you've had a chance to put the car through it's paces.

I have a 2008 XC70 that needs structs and shocks as well. The B4 seem like a no brainer given their price. I haven't found much in the way of guides for replacing them though. Has anybody compressed the springs before pulling the struts? Wondering if that will give enough wiggle room to pull the struts without having to remove the entire knuckle. Supposedly the job books out at 1.4 hours so I imagine there is a quicker way.
