Re: Is it True that a Auto R won't really pass 220 kmh (140 mph)?? (zigger)

Tell me this is B.S! I just read this in a forum mind u the owner was talking about a 2005 Auto R and he said the car has a reallly hard time going past 220 kmh.
Is the 2006 better?

Where were you planning on going more than 140mph?

And your source is full of crap. GTs over here have gone over 150. IM Britspeed for confirmation if he hit 155.

He may have the ECU "bug" that applied the 130 mph speed limiter incorrectly to US spec. cars. There's a VADIS patch to raise it to the proper 155 mph limit.

I have had mine way past that like 155 ish and a lil past that on the road.

i have an 04. but how do i know if the 130mph rev limiter is still there. my dealership told me that they would charge me to check this.

as far as I know, you'll have to drive it and find out

It's your $$, but unless you are planning to either regularly track it at speeds >130, or will soon live near an autobahn, why bother changing the limit?

Isn't the answer is obvious as the nose on your face.

Go out in a isolated area and step on it.

Tell your dealer that if it does have the 130mph limiter than it is false advertisement ... it was advertised with a speed limited 155 mph not an aerodynamically limited 155mph. It's stupid for a dealer to charge just to "look into it."

I'll be moving back to the states soon and I hope I don't live near an idiotic dealer! Maybe try another dealer ...

Search for a long ~5 mile straight without exits, a track for instance..

Drive up and down a few times to check for police or speed control and then floor it until you reach 140 mph. If a limiter is in place it won't reach 140 but more like 134-136 on speedo.

Just what I was thinking!

Why would a 'chick's car' need to go over 140mph in Long Island anyway?

NOTE: Eric doesn't think it is a 'chicks car', he was refering to zigger's previous thread.

S60 R a chicks car?

Well, maybe Eric does, he did just buy a Smurfette Blue...

Re: Is it True that a Auto R won't really pass 220 kmh (140 mph)?? (zigger)

The top speed limiter is off of my car and I have had it up to 157 mph recently and it was still pulling. Top speed is estimated at @ 173 mph (just a guess) based on still having rpm's left in the band at 157. I have no plans on finding out what that top speed is.

173. Stock? No way.

I think ~165 is the max doable stock if you have LOTS of room. Doug did 161 but ran out of open road. 6th gear just doesn't pull hard, 5th only gets you to 145mph.

Gearing in 6 GT is different, may accelerate better (or worse?) than 6MT at those speeds.

Gear ratios are shorter in lower gears, but taller in higher gears, but Jim said can't directly compare to MT because of drivetrain losses?

Even tuned it won't go much over 165
To reach 174 you need an additional 50 hp.

Damn exponential laws of wind resistance.

I know cD is more important than power at those speeds. Lowering springs should help, but do the sport package or Evolve help or hurt cD (Doug has springs/sport package).

Or should you concentrate on cleaning up underbody.
