Sound is a subjective thing. It's really up to you and what sounds best to you. IPD seems to sound a bit throatier and have a bit more growl while the EST is a little more subtle yet more aggressive than stock. EST also has two types of systems- sport and touring- touring has an extra resonator to tame it a bit more. I think they all sound great so for me it would just come down to the money aspect of things.

I suggest waiting for either company to have a sale. EST typically has a big exhaust sale in the spring where you can get both the DP and exhaust for about $1,200

That said, if you plan on keeping your car for a while, it can't hurt to spend an extra $200ish (above the EST sale price) to get the IPD system. You'll get a bit more ground clearance, a real agressive sound, and those tips are awesome.

Thanks for the information as I am planning on doing the same. I have worked with IPD and have found them very good to work with and helpful.

Wooo another guy in Mississauga!! I'm biased towards the EST Sport system because I haven't heard the IPD one yet (Can someone PLEASE make a comparison video). In my opinion the EST Sport does a really good job, and it sounds quite aggressive, so the IPD system has to be something really spectacular to beat it.

If you want to hear how it sounds, reach over to my buddy's shop in Mississauga on Burnamthorpe and Wolfedale, and you can see/hear for yourself. We're always tinkering around with our R's, and he has the EST Sport + DP, as well as an electric cutout that's just bats**t crazy! Sent you a PM.

I just got the EST touring and a CNT DP and it is plenty loud for me. I've had people in the back seat even complain. The newer style tips are much nicer looking than the older rounded tips in my opinion.

Can't recall any local guys with IPD's because Eurosport is located in Oakville, and people just pick it up there.

PS. You can always go custom if you want LOUD! 3" mandrel bent with a magnaflow or borla muffler, and choose tips of your choice :) I might end up doing that myself

My EST DP/Cat is only noticable at start up and hard acceleration. At cruise it is not noticable. I am still using the stock can, but no resonator and am pleased with the more aggressive yet not obnoxious sound.

Ipd exhaust is the best by far ....oval tubing for clearance too

With a downpipe it sounds like sex

I have est sport and don't have bad highway drone. Drone is also an idle that is excessively loud due to exhaust flow becoming too low. I don't experience that either. If your exhaust diameter is too large for your car's flow this can happen.

Went on to YouTube video watching spree last night hunting for IPD's exhaust on an R, and yes it is slightly throatier than EST Sport system. Either is a winning purchase in my opinion

Tom, I gotta hear the IPD exhaust if you get it! We can make a comparison video between stock, IPD, and EST to settle this age old debate.

I don't think so. I remember listening to YouTube videos. Ipd is definitely louder. I was going for a sport car note not a throaty rumble. I'm sure I would have been pleased with the touring exhaust too. The sport is definitely obvious at idle and sometimes I think I'd like less attention.

Anyone in the PNW with the IPD exhaust? I need a sale also.
What say you IPD????

I have run the EST exhaust with and without the resonator and have had the iPd exhaust for the last 2 ish years. The est was a good exhaust but the iPd system is so much better. Better flow better note under load. The iPd might be a tiny bit louder under normal driving conditions than the EST exhaust with the sound pipe. Love the iPd exhaust and am so glad I decided to upgrade.

Do you still have the EST exhaust in the garage?

After hearing all 3 (EST, IPD, Magnaflow Custom) in person I went with custom stainless. The throaty gurgle of magnaflow is just mean.

Here's some links to the components that went into mine. I paid $475 and it was fabricated directly on to the R for precise fit. Note, the cost of going with Mandrel bent over crush bent was cost prohibitive for me. All piping is 3" crush bent, which means the exhaust bottle necks down to 2.5-2.75" or so.
