I honestly think I'm crazy to even consider spending that kind of money on these two things, but for 2019 there are two options if you want heated steering wheel and rear seats:

Luxury Package $3,150
- Backrest massage, front seats
- Heated rear seat, outer positions
- Heated steering wheel
- Nubuck headlining, leather grab handles, leather sun visors

Or:

Heated rear seats and steering wheel $750

So that's $2,400 to add the front seat massagers, and the upgraded materials on the headliner, grab handles, and sun visors. Not cheap. Am I going to regret NOT getting this stuff? Are the seat massagers amazing and worth every penny on long drives? Help me out

If the massage seats were available when I bought mine, or if they could be retrofitted, I'd have ordered them.

Heated rear seats are a must if you love your passengers.

Well we have a Momentum without the massager, leather on everything etc BUT we did get the Bowers and Wilkins.... and for sure that was the BEST way to spend an extra 3K in our opinion.
Cant speak to the massagers etc but I would advise before you spend on that, make sure you get the Bowers and Wilkins.

But seriously, do you do a lot of long distance driving, as in more than 500km single way? If not, don't buy it as you'll be wasting money.

But if you enjoy long trips of at least once or twice a year with stop breaks at least every 300km, then go for it.

I found the backrest massage to be a bit... meh... I take long trips (I put 25k miles on my car, first year, and that's with three months in the shop), but I don't use it.
Heated rear seats... kids love to play with the button. They couldn't care less about heating.
Heated wheel. Now that's a must for me. I live in Buffalo, NY. Hate gloves.
Headlinging, leather... who cares.

If you can get the heated wheel without the rest... I'd go that route.

Look forward to seeing you back in six months regretting that decision! Seriously - it's a bad choice.
I think there's at least 2-3 threads going on, right now, of people who regret not getting B/W immensely.

Since you don't tell us where you live, it's hard to say.
Heated steering wheel is the only thing of the list there that interests me - I use mine all the time. With heated seat and heated wheel, you can warm up in peace and quiet.

Got heated steering wheel on mine, but it was not 100% necessary.

I do not have massage seats, but I have had it on my other cars (A8, S550, and now 750i) They do not work well at all in my experience, the only one that got it right was the A8. I doubt the Volvo massage seats are super effective based on what I read, so I would forego the Lux pack.

Get the B+W sound if you didn't tick that box, as many seem to love it.

I live in central Ontario so heated seats & steering wheel is a necessity.
I also wear hearing aids and don’t listen to music very loud and mostly 60’s on Sirius so not having B&W is OK
Heated seats come standard in Canada but heated steering wheel is in a package, but worth it.

I opted for luxury and love the massaging seats. Wife and other passengers also love it. The adjustment for the type of massage, speed and intensity are all great. Whether it is worth the $3,100, not too sure, but considering the total cost of the car it's just incremental.

The Bowers is absolutely worth it - best stereo on the market, hands down. High end sennheiser in Mercedes doesn't compare.

The one option I thought I wanted but then excluded was HUD. Driving 75-85% of the time with polarized sunglasses negated the need.

Now it's just deciding on Polestar upgrade...

We had the lux package ticked and ended up deleting then adding the heated rear seats and steering wheel when it came time to finalize our order. I debated heavily on the BW and I am happy I decided to get it. I love the sound and think it was worth the money.

The best option would be to try to test drive an XC90 with that package so that you can see for yourself if you like the massage seats and the upgraded headliner and sun visors so that you buy what YOU WANT and not what random strangers on the Internet want :D.

That being said, massage seats were never an option for R-Design, and since none of my previous vehicles had them, there's nothing for me to miss. And as for headliner, grab handles, and sun visors, I hardly notice those things in the vehicle at all. The leather dash is what I see and appreciate the most.

As for the B&W, I deliberately chose NOT to order it. I like listening to a variety of sources but I could care less about the difference between mp3 and flac or anything else like that. To tell the truth, when I test drove an XC90 and listened to the B&W using the sources I normally use, I didn't have it blasting out loud and couldn't tell the difference between the stock system. I have no regrets at all.

Ultimately, my advice is: Buy what makes YOU happy :).

I've got the luxury package. The nicest part about it is the headliner. The massaging seats are just a gimmick IMO. They're simply not powerful enough to massage adequately and they only do your back for both driver and passenger. Personally, it's my rear end that needs the most massaging on a long trip and that area is missing from the massaging feature.

So is it worth the extra $2,400? Depends on whether you're trying to impress people or just want functional features. In my case, it was an option on an in stock vehicle so since I didn't really want it, I used it as a negotiating point.

Heated steering wheel is very nice actually! Really miss it now when I drive a car that doesn't have it. Have mine to turn on automatic at the lowest setting.

Regarding the heated rear seats it's nice but I have three kids and the heat is not on the middle seat so I would prefer not to have it at all to avoid the envy :).

If the head lining is instead of the panoramic roof I would propose the glass roof instead.

Tried the massage seats and hated it. Maybe it's something I can learn to appreciate but I doubt it.

In Sweden we could get the "normal" sound system with the subwoofer and I actually love that sound. Now with the mid-soundsystem (HarmanKardon) I think the SW is included so this is probably a very good alternative.
