Information Thread About Elevate Cat-Back Exhaust

The exhaust fits any T6 or V8 AWD S80. I speculate with a bit of modification it would also fit XC70 T6s. It can be purchased at this link, and is $1295.00 plus shipping.

I finally got a chance to install the Elevate exhaust that I've had sitting in my office for the last month or two. One word. WOW! Fit and finish is incredible. Installation was simple, and it sounds amazing.

One of the best things about this exhaust is that they provided adjustments to the rearmost mounting points in order to get the tips centered on both the X and Y axes perfectly. No other exhaust I've installed has had that, and it is a very thoughtful design point. I still couldnt get the right side tips as high into the cutout in the bumper as I would have liked because of clearance between the muffler and heat shield, but I was still able to get both sets of pipes symmetrically centered. I have shown pics of the adjustment and the clearance issues below.

About to get started:

Stock exhaust removed. We had to cut the exhaust near the rear subframe as at the factory the exhaust is installed prior to the subframe. If you order replacement exhaust pieces from Volvo, they do come as two pieces. We cut it in a short straight section of the pipe so it could be reinstalled with a clamp sleeve if I'd like.

This pic is of most of the system installed except for the right muffler. You can see it is pieced just right to make the install easy and flexible.

This bracket shows the up and down adjustment on the muffler mounting brackets. Such a great feature!!

This shows the minute amount of clearance between the right muffler and the heat shield. This is why the exhaust is as high as possible. I would have liked to have positioned the tips up higher in the bumper cutouts if I could, but they look just fine the way they are anyway.

You can see here that there are adjustments to rotate the tips to get them just right.

All set up. Shown straight on:

Staggered tips. They are laser etched with "ELEVATE" on each tip. A great detail.

Video of the glorious noise it makes:

As a side note, for those that wanted to hear what it sounds like with no exhaust, Here is a video of my XC90 V8 with the exhaust removed. The cats are still on it, of course. This is from when I installed the Volvo quad-outlet sport exhaust on the XC90.

How much louder than stock would you say the Elevate system is? Any drone? From the video it sounds like a lower sound (more bass) but not actually much louder at all.

It's a LOT louder when revving and under acceleration. I'm not certain how I could convey its loudness over the internet since it depends on how loud you turn up the sound on whatever device you're using. LOL. Definitely a significantly lower exhaust note as you noted. At cruising speed it's as silent as the stock exhaust until you accelerate. At lower speeds, say around 40, there is a bit of drone. I just drove about 500 miles today so I really had a good chance to test it out under most circumstances.

Agreed. I couldn't find a video or sound clip anywhere of the Elevate exhaust on a V8 before I bought it. It definitely was a gamble.

Looks and sounds GREAT! Congrats!

It's an Elevate exhaust, so you'd have to ask them, but I don't believe they make an exhaust for the XC90 V8. I went with the OEM sport exhaust for my XC90.

This is all cat-back (post O2 sensors) so no.

Here's another video that I took with a bit of driving. The windows are down about half way in this video.

Professional driver. Closed course. Don't try this at home. Blah blah blah.

The Check Engine Light in the video is unrelated to the exhaust. I apologize for the crappy video and sound quality. I took this with my iPhone while holding it in my hand along with the steering wheel. I ordered a suction mount for my GoPro so I can stick it on the rear bumper and get a REAL sound clip.

Would love to hear an in-car recording with windows up, just a 0-60 run in automatic mode. As it is, again it only sounds barely louder than stock (well, stock with center resonator delete that I'm used to now haha). Here's a reminder of what that sounds like:

It's significantly louder than stock. Remember, you can't really gauge the volume without hearing in person since you can adjust the volume on whatever device you're using. I wish I could bring the car to Carlisle, but I have a commitment to show one of my other cars in the invitational section. :(

Oh, and I'll work on getting you a windows up 0-60 in auto mode. I need to break out the go pro and get some better pics. The iphone isnt cutting it.

#28 · (Edited)
I haven't been able to get the acceleration video I promised yet, but this is one I took of accelerating from about 60 to 90mph on the highway. The windows are up. Transmission is in Auto mode with Four-C set on Sport.

I'd just like to add that it is significantly louder than the stock exhaust. You can choose whether or not you'd like to believe me, but it is. It's not annoyingly loud, but it definitely gets attention. On the highway at cruising speed, it's about as quiet as stock.

That sounds excellent. I think it is easier to tell it's louder than stock from this video than the earlier one.

#30 ·
That sounds amazing! Makes my dad's XJR sound wimpy in comparison.

#31 ·
Thanks for the compliment! I recently had an 04 XJR and the S80 definitely is a lot louder and meaner sounding!

Jason-

I sent an email to FCP a couple of months ago inquiring about the availability of the S80 Elevate wing, but never got a response. I didn't try again as I figured if it was available I would have heard something. I just figured I'd let you know since you went out of your way to promote the availability of Elevate products in the thread I started. If it's available, I'm a buyer.

No response here, either. Bummer. :(
