Cars built for other countries are supplied with one-stage unlocking.

My MY07 XC90 has visual confirmation signal ONLY when locking, but NO visual confirmation when unlocking. Is this the software download (add 6849 993-8) I need to perform in order to have unlock visual confirmation?

Yes. I have it in both cars and love it. Still wonder why it is not the default...

I think mine, also MY 2007, has both. It must be a market issue, as I haven't done any SW upgrade regarding this.

I think you are right. When we picked up our S60 in Goteborg and I asked for these download options (visual confirmation + auto-lock), the guy said "ah, you want the european options..."

Re: (Bigjon)

The locking set up on the XC 90 is confusing. The automatic locking button on the drivers door is a one way switch. So if the driver gets out of the car and then decides to go open the tail gate or another door he has to hit the button twice. (1st time locks the doors ,2nd time unlock all).

I locked all the keys in my XC90 the first day I had it. ie I got out of the drivers side , left all keys on console and just hit the lock button to unlock the passenger door. Yeap - you guessed it, I locked all the doors again.

Any suggestions beside a spare key hid somewhere.

Re: (240_XC90)

I had the "auto-lock" feature uploaded to my XC90 (locks all doors when we exceed 7 mph). With that feature it is nearly impossible to lock your keys inside the vehicle. If ANY door is open and you try to unlock (or lock) the doors using the door button they will lock for half a second and then all unlock.

So...I open the driver door after a drive and want to open the rear hatch. All the doors are locked except for the driver door which I just opened. I push the unlock button on the door ONE time and the driver door will lock for a half second and then all the doors will unlock. I've tried to hit the button and the slam the door shut to see if I could get it to stay locked. Not a chance! It doesn't matter which door is open or which door the lock button is pushed on. Same thing happens every time. If you push the lock button twice the doors will lock then unlock twice.

I don't know why it does this but my dealer said it's normal. I can't lock my XC90 with the door buttons unless all the doors are closed.

Re: (Templar)

Templar - Not sure if I get your email about locking the door. I just drove my 07 and the doors lock . Stopped the car, turned engine off and opened the driver's door. I hit the lock button and the driver door went to lock meaning all doors were locked.

I read the codes, but it seems the only options for door locking deal with the auto lock feature.

Please help me out.

thks

Re: (240_XC90)

Templar - one thing I forgot. I can push the lock button with the drivers door open and it locks and if I shut the door, the alarm feature comes on ie lights.

thanks for all the info on this issue- my lights flash now when i lock and flash twice when i unlock- its nice to see when you are at a distance from the vehicle

now if only volvo will let us customize for less $$$
i am suprised i didn't have to hand over my first born son when i asked to make these changes- the cash price was pretty dear

Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy. It sounds like your functionality differs from that of my XC90.

It's hard to explain but basically here are two scenarios, one using the door buttons and the other using the remote.

LOCKING USING DOOR BUTTON:
If I lock my XC90, using the lock/unlock button it WILL NOT lock the car if any of the doors are open. If all the doors are closed when I use the lock/unlock door button, then the car will lock and go into alarm mode. Basically my XC90 requires all doors to be closed for the lock/unlock button to actually lock the car.

LOCKING USING REMOTE:
If I lock using the remote is doesn't matter if any of the doors are open or closed. The car will lock and once all doors are closed the lights will flash and the vehicle will go into alarm mode.

Hope this helps.

PS: I'm not yelling with the all caps, just emphasizing without the use of bullets or other outlining technique.

Allows you to change the unlocking function of your car.

One-stage unlocking means that all doors and the tailgate/boot lid are unlocked by a press the UNLOCK button on the remote control once.

2 stage unlocking means that the first press on the remote control UNLOCK button will unlock the driver's door only. A second press is required to unlock the remaining doors. To date cars built for the US and Canada have been supplied with 2 stage unlocking.

Cars built for other countries are supplied with one-stage unlocking.
where's the code for this feature? seems to have been removed?

pay the dealer and they will hookup the car and activate it
good time to activate others features as well as they may cut you a discount
