Hello, I am new to this forum, but was recommended to post my question on here by IPD in Portland, OR.

We've just inherited a pristine, mint condition 1992 Volvo 960 wagon, and it looks and is running beautifully.

My father-in-law had the car on the west coast but we live in New York City, so he doesn't have any recommendations on repair facilities here in the Northeast.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a reliable independent Volvo repair shop in Manhattan (or the boroughs) or in the greater New York metro area? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Many thanks and happy holidays!

I also go to a Star Shell located on Francis Lewis Blvd. I know both owners and can give you their number. They are reputable and honest and do very good work, but not cheap.

+1 on Nick http://********************/smile/emthup.gif . And you can tell him George with the 400,000+ mile S70 recommended him to you.

Also - Nick's brother, Jim, owns VoVo Clinic in Red Bank, NJ, if you're ever down that way - exit 110 off the GSP, if memory serves. I'd also recommend him, and he also knows my car.

Re: (thewayyoumoveme)

I paid $50 for my JRL mod in the bronx.

Body Shop that does excellent color matching, I know a few, one in particular is in Bklyn. Excellent work, and 452 is Black Sapph? As far as lowering springs and cambers I have a guy here in the Bronx that is pretty good and not that expensive, probably cut a deal for those and the brake lines.....

Re: (thewayyoumoveme)

Most of the muffler shops in the Bronx on Jerome Avenue are pretty decent. It is right under the train off of the cross Bronx expressway, I will get the receipt and post the address for you, if I have my R back by this weekend I will even meet you around here and go with you. The paint shop is in Brooklyn, G&B Collision (718) 230-9793, It's an auto body shop, they do impeccable work though, the owners name is Ellis. And the cambers and springs you can pretty much do anywhere, when you do your JRL mod you should be able to find someone to do it, if not my other mechanic is close by to there on fordham road.. If not nick at highbloom auto, I believe he is in Bloomfield, NJ should be able to do your springs and cambers and stuff.

Here's the website for Nick...

http://highbloomautoservice.com/

He's in Nutley, off Route 3 at, I believe, the Bloomfield Avenue exit.

And, here's for his brother, Jim, Vo-Vo Clinic in Red Bank...

If you're not too far from here, check this guy out: http://beaverbrookautomotive.com/

Pete worked on my car, did my oil pan-o rings and noticed I needed the turbo oil cooler return lines done. Had the car on the lift when I came back to pick it up and walked me through the car, showing me everything. Showed me my VC was replaced and driveshaft was in good condition. Def. a knowledgeable guy.

update: any new suggestions for trustworthy NYC-area mechanics?

I'm always looking out for a backup or new repair shop, as my current mechanic is now pretty much retired. Any suggestions in the NYC metro area will be much appreciated (I've already noted Nick at Highbloom, and will try him out next time). Thanks in advance!
