I bought a hood as a replacement for my96 850 (it’s the one in my pfp) and for some reason the new hood won’t latch, it’s in the correct place and I watched it drop into the latches but it just won’t fully secure, slamming nor pressing did any different, the driver side doesn’t latch at all and the passenger side latches the tinniest bit where of you tap the hood it releases. My assumption is that the rectangle holders aren’t deep enough but I’m not sure, and yes the latches do work I locked them and released them. Any ideas?

If the old hood worked, and neither the old nor the new hood are bent, you might try adjusting where the hood bolts to the hinges. Otherwise, the latches themselves have a good amount of adjustment up or down if you loosen the bolts, you could try moving them up a bit.

I would adjust them. Probably an alignment issue as Matt suggests. There is adjustment where the hood bolts to the hinges and adjustment on the latches.

You mention replacing the hood. Why? Often times in accidents the hood hinges get tweaked as well and may need to be replaced with the hood.
