Highly Considering a 2008 XC70 3.2 ... Thoughts?

I'm about to go look at a 2008 XC70 3.2 with about 115,000 miles. The car is as base-model as they come - I don't think it has any options at all except for heated front (and rear?) cloth seats. Appears clean inside and out based on photos except for a worn steering wheel, and a pretty big rip in the cloth/faux leather seat bottom along the door-side edge.

Carfax looks clean, consistently maintained by the Volvo dealer. 3rd party dealer asking $7500. Fair price??

I'm considering this as my daily utility vehicle/cargo hauler/dirt road explorer (I play hockey nearly every day, and do a decent amount of hiking in the Adirondacks). My lowered coupe isn't exactly practical with any of those situations.

New to the P3 platform... what are some things to look out for? Things you like? Dislike?

How has your XC been from a reliability standpoint?

Any major maintenance items that I should be expecting soon? I'd ideally like to have it for another 100k miles if I do decide to purchase it.

we have an '08 xc70 w/3.2. had it about 3 years. bought it with 67k for $18k. now have about 107k on it.

the n/a motor is a dog. you would be disappointed when compared to your sr. i'm ok with it, i don't lead foot. my wife prefers our '05 with 5 cyl turbo.

there have been some documented issues with check valves in the fuel pump. it's about a $1500 repair job. basically a check valve fails and lets fuel pressure bleed down when the engine is shut down.

the serpentine belt is a bit of a pita to replace.

there are some discussions about oil consumption with the 3.2, although i haven't experienced it (knock on wood).

did a drain/fill in the tranny at 100k. just replaced fluids in bevel gear, haldex and rear diff.

no timing belt fortunately.

$7500 seems to be in the ballpark, at least for northern california.

i've been pretty happy.

We have one in the family and it's now 10 years old with some miles so has been relegated to new/young driver duty (poor car). I've read that tip-in was improved in later 3.2l models and these are not terribly quick, maybe keep an eye out for a T6 model that has the 3 liter turbo. Aside from normal stuff, issues we've dealt with have been the radio and rear view mirror - pretty common if you do a search.

So I bought one yesterday... 2008 Oyster Grey 3.2, black leather interior, fully loaded from what I can tell, and well inside my budget. Just over 110k on the odo, but drove very nicely and in pretty great shape overall. Taking delivery on Saturday. Pretty excited to join the crew here!

We've had ours 4 years now, 08 oyster/black ltr. Started w/77k, now 119k. Not a rocket, but a great ride. Only problem has been the am doesn't work on the radio (who cares?). Had to fix a few bumps & smacked side mirror from previous owner, but no mechanical issues. Added mud flaps & wing cross bars on rack. Oil burn has never been an issue (uses none). Good on the road and tracks well around the farm. Hope you luck is as good as mine.

Sweet! Any service records?

I had one from 2008-2014, put about 94k miles. Major fixes was the suspension works up front (creaking around 20k miles) and engine rebuild due to burning oil (around 80k miles). Mid-level fix was fuel level misread, fixed by removing fuel tank and sensors. Also cracked windshield fluid reservoir. All were under warranty & extended warranty. Overall I thought it was a solid car, considering it was european.
