Haven’t seen one of these in awhile. Let’s see what P2 turbo models boast high mileage and what mods/problems. Gives me motivation to see high mileage boosted cars, because the NA models should hit 300k. I’ll start:

06 V70 2.5t with 16t and tune. 247k, only real issue would be the steering rack and some rust. Probably will see it through till 300k.

06 2.5t XC70. 268k. P*. Racking up a thousand a week at work, not quite as much when off.

Hit 700k km two weeks ago, probably put on another 100k since... jokes, but I seriously think this guy drives for a living. That's roughly an average of 100km a day, every single day, for the past 20years since it was made.

mine
2003 XC90 T6, sold at 270,000 - luckily no transmission issues, but the torque converter was going. Turbos were weak. Front control arm bushings
2004 XC90 T5, was at 320,000 before sold, bought it at 311k with burned exhaust valve. Reason being leaking valve seals, with that particular one building heavy deposits on the back and overheated. A chunk of metal was missing. Also front control arm bushings.
2006 V70 T5, 268,000 carbon build up in the oil pick up led to low oil pressure. Cleaned and driven another 30,000 without other issues than burned bulbs.

my sisters
2003 Volvo XC70 T5, 325,000 BSR tune - steering rack leak, carbon build up on oil pick up, had to change turbo because of that. Sold to friend who drove another 25,000 before the car was salvaged due to hail damage
2009 Volvo XC70 T6 - 325,000 BSR tune, still running strong. Brakes, parking assistant sensors, rear hatch shocks, minor suspension

'07 V70 2.5T FWD currently at 352,500 miles.
  • Right front axle assemblies - I learned to buy genuine Volvo after two bad aftermarket ones.
  • Two ETA throttle bodies - I found cleaning them didn't do much and it was wear to their electronic throttle control required replacement of the unit.
  • Three mass airflow sensors - I suspect one or two of those were replaced when in fact the throttle body was the culprit.
  • Impulse sensor at 158,000mi.
  • Heater blower and resistor at 304,000mi.
  • Fuel tank leak detection pump at 314,000mi.
Everything else including PCV system, engine mounts and control arms were wear items destined to need replacement, nothing seemed premature, and I never left them to get worse.

Each time something comes up, the value of owning this comfortable and practical station wagon justifies the expense of repair, "book value" be damned.

Amen. What would we upgrade to? Nothing newer appeals

My P2R rolled over 500000km last week... (310,xxx miles, I forget exact number, it is at 311k now)
I drive it about 25-30k miles per year depending on the condition of my other cars. Bought it at 184k in late 2017.

04 V70 bought at 177923 miles a year and a half later 213722 miles. All I have done is replace plastic piece on right side front window, brake light relay, repair two broken wires, just bought 4 Uniroyal tiger paw tires.
