Hey guys,
I wanted to get some input from you all on a 2004 Volvo S60 R. Ive been looking to get rid of my base 2001 S60 and finally get the R and this is the exact color and model I have been looking for.

This R looks to be in amazing condition but the only thing is that it has 141,000 miles. The asking price is $7,995. Have there been any widespread issues with the 2004 S60's or is there anything i should be concerned with? I would be keeping this car for a while. I'll be going to see the car this week.
I appreciate all of your input!
Thanks,
-Will

Well, the thing looks really nice. Interior looks amazing for the age. Says in the ad it has heated seats, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I noticed the lights were smoked and the windows tinted, meaning someone has taken the time to do things to the car. I would just double check and make sure that if they did anything else, it was done right. Good luck! I love mine.

Try to do a burn out.. if it does, the awd is messed up.
Happened to my buddy...

Dont do a burnout.
Get a proper inspection.
On a lift.
Put the car in gear and check for drive shaft spin and rear wheel spin. No, it does not have factory heated seats but they arent as difficult to put in as you might think. I added them to mine for about $500.
Otherwise, not a bad looking 04. Atacama is nice.

The atacama has most likely been re-dyed, there is no way it could be that nice with that many miles, but hey if it was done right that'c a plus.

Surprised no one has mentioned the 04 Auto transmission. If you're going to get an auto, go for 06-07 that have the more potent 6-speed transmission, rather than the 5-speed that the 04-05 have. Other than that car seems to be in good shape, but the interior seems too good for 140k miles. Re-dyed most probably, but seems to be a good job as mentioned above.

This

Unless all the major maintence issues have been taken care of (new struts, angle gear/collar, etc) and the trans has had the fluids changed I would keep lookings. It does look nice tho, but I dont know about 8grand. Like i said it depends on maintence and if it has been in an accident

My wife drives an 04 automatic. Yes its torque limited in 1st and 2nd gear, but these cars are fast highway cars (please drive responsibly) and not drag cars. If that car is in your price range and you have it properly checked out, and understand that even the 06-07 Rs have their issues, it might be just what you are looking for. But if the fact that it doesnt have heated seats, is an 04 automatic, and no sports kit (both can be remedied) cause you to hesitate then keep looking. An 04 can be just as fun and rewarding to drive as any other year despite the popular opinion of this forum. I own 2 04Rs and bought a third for my indy.

Whatever you buy, im sure you will make the decision that best fits your needs.

Nice car, clean and straight as it appears.

Who cares if its a redyed seats, its in great physical shape/wear and the color/dye looks great. Get records, get it inspected, take your time but put a deposit - for 8K its not bad and thats accounting for the usual high priced California car, had this been near central or south its a 7K car so odds are the dealer only paid 4-5k, I'm sure there's a little room.

Though its age and mileage, odds are you are not going to get a warranty for it despite some companies claiming they'll still cover those high mileage cars and age there are many loop holes, so save money for the inevitable repairs and earn your own interest on it.

GL!

Can I give you advice? It has 141,000 miles. You have no idea how the car was driven. If reliability is very important to you, don't even think about it. At 141,000 miles, unless it has had the collar sleeve, struts, etc.. replaced/serviced, you might as well declare bankruptcy now.

It's easy to get excited and miss warning signs :/ These cars are high maintenance when they have low mileage. When they get past 120k, they get even more needy. Unless you plan on doing maintenance yourself, it's gonna cost you.

Please understand I'm not trying to be a downer, I'm just trying to bring some realism into this thread. Yeah, the car looks amazing, but parts wear out.

This doesn't necessarily mean anything, took me all of an hour to create my masterpiece with some VHT and PlastiDip. You need to take a look at records and condition of everything. Look into the engine bay, is it clean....taken care of. Look for mods that could have been done. New piping, silicone lines, etc. You need yourself a good automative eye.

I appreciate all of your input! I will let you all know what I end up doing. I think I will probably keep looking for one with lower miles and newer with the 6-speed and Atacama interior. If any of you know of one, let me know!
Thanks
