Headlight washer cover

My wife bumped into something and tore off the passenger side headlight washer cover. I see the covers are sold unpainted: 39870060 - Volvo Bumper Cover Cap (Right, Front). CH -70145 | Volvo Parts Webstore, Oak Park IL

The car is Black Stone color code 019.

Are the little tiny touch up paint containers like this Volvo Touch Up Paint - Genuine Volvo 31266405 able to paint a cover? I've never used a touch up kit but I assume they are just for covering up small scratches not to apply to a larger (albeit still small) area like the whole cover. Would this spray paint from ipd work well? Black Code 019 Spray Paint 12oz Aerosol Can - Aftermarket - 105981

Any other advice?

I use spray cans from this company. Costs more but the metallic colors are a close match. It is such a small part, the IPD paint is probably fine. With any base color you need several coats of clear coat, too. Also use some rubbing compound on the clear coat to buff the surface until it is glossy.

After closer inspection the nozzle will also need to be replaced, one of the little circular nubs on the side broke off so a new cover won't stay attached anyway. For the cover I'm going to try my luck with a pre-painted knock off and if I'm unlucky I'll get an OEM cover and paint it. It's plain black, not metallic, so it might be okay.

The cheap and cheerful covers from Ali Express come unpainted, but are black… from more than a few feet away won’t even show in most lights, and you can’t see it from where you sit anyway ;) - having said that my daughter used a touch up bottle to paint them on her my celestial blue C70 and they look OK

Well the cheap knock-off cover arrived and it looks like it is OEM with the OEM markings covered up / sanded off.

Step 1) get a second passenger side washer cover
Step 2) install it unpainted
Step 3) Ask your dealer, or a dealer with a larger auto body shop, to paint your other unpainted cover for you next time a car comes through that needs sprayed that color.

The IPD black should work provided you properly prep the part and use an adhesion promoter. However, for painting bumper plastics there is usually more chemistry involved; the dirty little secret is that the paint for auto bumper plastics never really 100% "dries"

I have had a black (unpainted) one on my dark blue S60 for years, was going to, but never yet got around to painting it. Can’t really see it from 10ft away unless it’s in bright sunshine, and definitely can’t see it from where I sit ;)

No cheap ones on Ebay, weird though the S80 are only a couple of quid on Ali

I know they are not exactly the same, I wonder if they are a close fit, little bracket / swivel on the
flap look pretty close, I ordered 2 this morning for ÂŁ4 delivered, I have blue paint here etc

Pity I cannot find an Stl file for my 3D printer for this V70 one, Ive searched online everywhere

Plenty files for V50 / V60 and XC's, weird why no V70 ones
