I just bought a 2020 XC90 here in Colorado, and need to mount my new plates. The rear worked just fine. The factory holes in the front bumper are a different distance apart than on the rear door, and do not come close to fitting the holes on the license plate. I cant believe Volvoo would do something like this for a very standard license plate, let alone have them different from the front to the rear, but how the heck do I mount my plate on the front?

Look in the rear cargo area and see if the plastic front plate is there. All XC90 SPA cars come with this plate stored in the rear cargo area.
Did the car come from a state that only requires a rear plate? Arizona or New Mexico? The plate bracket may never have been installed. If you bought the car from a Volvo dealer they should have handled that on a used car.
Ask your dealer if they have one. We have lots of them floating around and I've never turned someone down who wanted one. Though we don't need them in our state so they're more of a surplus than desired item. You can buy one from the parts department or find one online. Those of us in states that don't need them enjoy the clean bumper look.
