First official Polestar 3 data and pricing

The Polestar 3 comes as a Long Range Dual Motor and as a Performance. The Long Range Dual Motor has a 111 kWh battery that is good for a WLTP range of up to 610 kilometers on paper. The two electric motors are together 489 hp and 840 Nm strong. This allows the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor to accelerate to a speed of 100 km/h in 5 seconds. Its top speed is 210 km/h.

The Polestar 3 Performance has the same 111 kWh battery, but has more powerful electric motors, 519 hp and 910 Nm. This accelerates the top version to a speed of 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. The Performance version also has a top speed of 210 km/h. However, the range of the Polestar 3 Performance is smaller than that of the 3 Long Range Dual Motor. The Polestar 3 Performance can go up to 560 kilometers on a full battery.

Pricing in the Netherlands:
Polestar 3 Dual Motor Motor Long Range - € 88.600
Polestar 3 Dual motor Long Range Performance - € 95.200
Pricing is including 21% Sales tax, but no other taxes.

The Polestar 3 Dual Motor Long Range has standard air suspension, an extensive audio system from Bowers & Wilkins and comes on 21-inch alloy wheels. Brakes are from Brembo.
Behind the steering wheel is a 9-inch digital instrumentation. The infotainment screen has a diameter of 14.5 inches. A panoramic glass roof is standard, as are three-zone climate control, soft-close doors and a comprehensive range of passive and active safety systems.

The Polestar 3 Performance comes with 22-inch wheels and includes ventilated seats with nappa leather upholstery, gold-colored seat belts and black trim in the interior.

Also at least the performance seems slow, maybe my expectations were wrong but it does seem slow especially considering the head-to-head (according to Polestar) competitor: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_Cayenne#Cayenne_Turbo_GT
It uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and claimed 0–100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3secs/0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.1secs.
And the electric motor details don't line up with the P10 motor either 🤔

Maybe so, but still considering that Polestar themselves keep on repeating how they are aiming to complete against Porsche the numbers are just sad. Take Cayenne S Coupe as an example (Porsche Cayenne S Coupe - Porsche USA) -> 434hp and 4.7s 0 to 60mph. So you end up with having the performance version of Polestar heading against middle range of Porsche and more or less ending up short.

And yes, I know the 0-60 time isn't everything. Not my point. My point is that based on numbers that are marketed the most Polestar seems to be behind their own-selected main competitor. Not exactly great strategy considering that they are also constantly hyping the car up ("not one to drive to daycare" etc etc).

I am fine they build premium EVs and target the price range of low to mid Porsche cars.
However I'd think they better keep one or two butter-and-bread models, and plan some factory capability to build them in lower cost. P*4 would be their true hope, and a P*2 successor, if any plan exists.

Air suspension sounds good and necessary. Hopefully, Polestar worked on road noise reduction. Engine performance on the performance model seems to be similar to the P2 with performance pack. I expected sub 4 second 0-60. It's possible Polestar is low-balling the numbers. Range sounds solid. Charging speed needs to be good as well. That's not mentioned.

Yeah, strange flex to tout this as a Performance SUV that "breaks the norm", then quote 0-100kmh times that aren't much different than Volvo's current T8 Recharge lineup of SUVs that, I guess, are meant for picking up the kids from daycare? It just doesn't seem like enough of a differential, particularly with the new crop of BEV Volvos on the way that have the potential to easily match or exceed those stats. Heck the XC40 Recharge already does and that's an aging platform in terms of being built for electric. We'll see when the real world numbers come in, or what the P10 motor does.

The entire package sounds oddly unappealing given the competition, plus quoting WLTP range is well-known bull**** by now, so expect 20%+ less mileage than what's actually quoted.

So basically, we have a car that considers "Performance" as 0-60 in 4.7s and a range of around 300 miles. For all the **** they get, Tesla is slapping them around at the actual performance and range figures. Interior quality is guaranteed to be far better, but at what cost?

I wonder if SPA2 was compromised by its initial accommodation for ICE hybrid? Maybe GPA and SPA3 would be the real deal?

To compete on range and 0-60, the body has to be as light as possible, which is not good for safety. And the motor is probably not the best they have, given P10 is coming in P*5.

Lotus Eletre SUV is lighter and faster, and EPA range 315 mile. But price is higher for sure. The first car rolled out their new factory two weeks ago.

Teslas do very well in terms of safety and are relatively light EVs. So, I don't think a lightweight body has to compromise safety that much. What Tesla doesn't seem to have is the NVH stuff that may add weight, or less of it. Hopefully, Polestar (and Volvo) have less road noise than current models do, that they've paid attention to reducing it.

We'll just have to stay tuned because Polestar is a performance brand and these unofficial performance figures are underwhelming. I think the range will be fine but more performance is expected.
