Generally it's triggered by the lane departure system. If it senses you weaving in your lane, it eventually triggers the message after a set number of instances.

 

It is sooooo annoying.

 

You can turn it off in settings.... I just forget where.

 

Would be great to do that. It is just annoying and makes me start looking for Starbucks....no safety in that....

My Lincoln has all the disciplinary warnings and I declare--I believe my wife programmed them. "Put both hands back on the wheel," "Time to pull over and rest" (coffee cup), "exceeding posted speed." Am I that bad a driver?

 

In some European markets it shows a 'Sniff Cocaine' graphic instead.
