Every time I open a door it pops! I looked at it a while back and I think the latch part connected to the body is literally cracked =0( I saw someone named Keith posted a link for the fix on 850s but that was a long long time ago and now the link doesn't work. FML How do I fix this annoying problem. Is there anyway to take this out? Would It cause any problems I don't care if it doesn't stay open or swing freely for now. I just want to get rid of that noise >.<

You need to look carefully.
Is the door frame or the door jam that's actually cracked or just the door check itself??
These go bad and when people don't replace them they can actually break the metal to what it's attached to at either end
When you let me know which it is, I'll tell you how to repair it

I had a 188 league average when I was 14 years old......
Then I found girls and cars

I had the same thing happen in my S70. The welds on the body for the door check broke and that was what was causing my popping. I drilled out the welds and riveted them and its held great ever since.

Re: (2fast4u)

If it IS cracked metal, and if it just started, I have used large washers and packed the bolts, solid as a rock. You need small fingers but it's quite doable
If the split is too far gone, then you need to weld the door (or the body post).
However, it may just be a bad door check

Lesson to everyone, LUBE your door hinges and door checks regularly
This will prevent the problem from occuring in the first place!

Be careful with broken door check stop limiters. If you let them go too long, this can happen

There isn't supposed to be that notch on the lower left corner of the square opening.......
My parents were driving my car while I was away at school, and a gust of wind caught the door and slammed it open...

This is supposed to be one piece:

In conclusion, yes, you can very easily remove the check stop limiter. Remove the door panel and it simply un-bolts from the inside. There is no harm to using the door without a limiter, since the hinges have a redundant stop built in. Note that the door will open further than it does normally though.

I would not recommend this.

Yes the door will stop BUT, it stops SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO close to the fender that if you accidentally lean on it ever so slightly or a stiff wind blows it WILL go into and make a dent in your fender!
I bought a wagon last year with a busted door check and a dent in the fender. The only way this can happen is by removing this.

Re: DOOR POPPING (JRL)

Agreed. When I had to do this, I was careful with the door, and made sure not to let it open or close without my hand on the door. Not the best situation, but it is better than driving with a broken limiter.
