I just casually dropped $45 to join the VCOA figuring what the hell, I need all the help I can get with my new 2018 V90. So what do I find but a technical forum with newest posts from two years ago, and subsections for lots of Volvo models--I'd be in good shape if I owned a P1800--but they don't even have subforums for the S90, V90 or V90CC. What a waste.

I joined VCOA a few months ago. It got me, through the A-Plan Elite, an additional $500 off of an offer of $10,000 off my S90 ($67,775 list). And, the dealer balked at adding the extra $500 off!!

A-Plan Elite also got me 2-years of on-call and internet, instead of the usual 6-months. So, that $45 investment turned into the best investment I ever have made in my life!

I agree that the site itself is as you wrote. But really, $45 is peanuts. The site appears to be geared toward much older Volvo models--kinda like a classic car club, but just for Volvos. As such, it has merit for Volvo owners. And, there was a nice article on the V90 in their most recent magazine. Swede speed has a growing, viable community of contributors, that welcome everyone and encourage participation. I also joined the VOLVOFORUMS, with a somewhat similar vibe to the VCOA. I don't really know how long these groups have all been in existence.

My post should prove to you that it is MONEY SAVER for some, and certainly not the "waste of money" you whined about.

Regardless, this too shall pass.

I thought I would be able ot take advantage of 2 years of On Call when I joined VCOA, but I assume I am just "VIP" level and not Elite. Do you know how to confirm this? I am buying an XC90 on Friday; already was offered 3% off MSRP plus the $3,000 conquest bonus to switch from a Mercedes vehicle, bring my price down from about $71,000 to $66,000. It appears the A-PLan would take even more off this price!

Your current A-Plan benefits are defined for you when you sign into Volvo's A-plan web page, and use the VCOA member number. The discounts and/or benefits are set by Volvo, and are not the exact same for every model. Before I bought my S90 this June, I had signed in and it printed that I was A-Plan Elite.

not the "waste of money" you whined about.
Not "whining," Tim, I'm simply pointing out that it's a waste of money for most, unless you're one of the few who are on the verge of buying a new Volvo and don't have any other access to A-Plan (which is pretty easy to get in a variety of ways). I have no reason to "whine" about spending $45 for anything.

Well, I considered the title of your post "Don't waste your money on the Volvo Club" to be hasty, and over-critical. The small dues support their site and their bi-monthly magazine. I had no other way to access A-Plan, but through them. Now possibly DenverJaguar may also get a savings of MORE than their $45 investment--hopefully as much as I received, or more. I think of the saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it" applies here. What I will say is that Swedespeed is the best site I have found on current Volvo news and has a vibrant community of new and seasoned Volvo owners (and enthusiasts). I enjoy reading your other posts.
