The roof rails in many European cars at the time had a standardize shape. Thule made the crossbars for those car companies and still sells the parts, keys and locks, so I expect you can piece together the whole crossbars directly from Thule if Volvo doesn't sell them anymore. When I sold my '02 Saab 9-5 and bought the '07 V70, the SAAB crossbars were identical to VOLVO crossbars except for the white letters painted on the four clamps. You should have no problem picking up used crossbars that fit your roof rails (look in the classifieds here).

Yeah... In the past year I've bought both the aero bars and square bars for my 06 XC70 from our parts counter. Volvo I believe is running a discount on them through the end of the month (dec 2022)

 

Avoid aerodynamic shaped aluminum bars, they flex and bounce a lot under steel basket weight.

The OEM genuine Volvo bars for the P2s were made by Thule. They came in the standard Thule rectangular bar, or with aero bars. Just get the Thule, or the Volvo, whichever is cheaper. I originally had the Volvo branded rectangular bar. There was a lot of annoying wind noise at 65mph and up. Kept the Volvo branded Thule rail mounts, but swapped out the rectangular bars for Thule Aeroblade ARB47B.

Much, much, much quieter at highway speeds.
